This is neither a spider nor a bug but a newly hatched leafhopper next to its exuvium.

mhohner, that is a great shot, and a wonderfull find. I have looked for these many times as I beleive they are found all over europe but never actually seen one in the flesh. What was the environment like where you found it? Could it be that they are just so small that they are difficult to see and thats why i have never seen them in the wild?

Tim

Tim,

this Pseudoscorpion is from moist moss between stones in a forest. You will probably not find it without getting some dirt on your hands. Furthermore, it is very small, less than 1 mm. Without using a loupe it resembles a slow moving dot. You may easily mistake it for one of the many small mites, or overlook it altogether.

BTW, your spider is Tetragnatha montana.

A small spider with it's prey. I didn't notice the aphis when I took the photo. It looks like the aphis is having a baby while being eaten.

Sorry about the flash reflections in all the eyes.

@Jens G: Great capture! DOF works well to isolate the subject.
@Pavel: Wonderful detail! Were you using an extension tube on your Tamron 90mm?
@Shaggy: Such a fast spider at such a slow shutter speed... well done.

Cheers... Brian

The top 2 were taken with an a200 + Tamron SP Di 90mm macro lens.

The bottom 2 were taken with an a200 + 18-70 Kit lens + reverse adapter + Minolta AF 50mm f1.7 before I got the 90mm lens.
