Hard to tell at this resolution but looks sharp enough to me. Not really sure I'd want to use any faster aperture than used here with DOF in mind anyways.

If your not happy with it I'll gladly adopt it

I purchased a used Minolta 400mm APO.
It has been a devil for me.
Maybe I'm spoiled by also shooting Canon 400DOii, 300/2.8ISii, and 500ISii.
Also spoiling me is my Sony 70-400Gii.

So it was a rocky start with the Minolta 400mm APO.
But I think this shot is acceptable but it is at F9, me just wanting
confirmation my copy is not a total loss.

Am I expecting too much? This shot after MFA +7 on the Sony a99ii
