Hi Neil,
Felinus Maximus normally goes by Max, sometimes Mus or Musy! The name is a reference to the Cartoon, Asterix and Obelix. ![]() Max is also adopted/recused. He was about 8 months old when we got him. So of course we have no idea if he is pure Siamese, though typically if they are not pure they may have other colors patches mixed with the brown. Max is actually darker brown than he looks in this photo. My brother has one. She has some white spots, a pink nose and paw pads, and a bit of striping. Our Vet says Max is indeed a Siamese. My parents had several seal point Siamese and one of them, a male, became very dark brown like Hugo and Max. Siamese are typically very loyal and social with their humans. Typically max follows me around and stays where I am, like a dog. There are Siamese that are bread for cat shows. They look very different. Very light coloring normally and very thin and "pointy" looking, whereas Max and Hugo look more like domestic cats, other than the coloring. I think those show cat breeders try to breed out that look. Those Siamese look more exotic. Did you know that, at least here in the USA, they now have DNA tests for cats and dogs? Crazy isn't it? My neighbor had her dog tested. I would guess, like the DNA tests for humans, the ethnicity estimate for dogs and cats is likely not very accurate. Thank you for sharing! ![]() And thanks to all for sharing your cat photos! Albert, you cat photos are beautiful! Very nice work! Take care, Neil and stay safe. Covid 19 here in Utah is peaking! We had about 490 new case yesterday and as you may know, Utah is not very highly populated! Kind regards, Kelly |

Hi Kelly,
Wow - that's a high number for such a sparsely populated State like that as you say. We are really glad we got our 'Utah Loop' tour done in 2018 and weren't looking towards that this year. Mind you, it's looking increasingly probable we are going to loose an organised Yellowstone trip in Feb, 2021 due to all the uncertainties around air travel etc. which is a bit of a blow if I;m honest. As for the cats - well; we also have a lilac point (Pi) which you can see below; he is exactly as you describe Max - he's more dog than cat as far as behaviour is concerned but is 'attached' to my wife (who he 'picked' as a kitten!) and also follows her around everywhere he can. I guess Hugo will remain a mystery unless we go for a DNA test - but that takes the fun (and the discussions with people) out of the whole thing. Anyway, by way of contrast: Pi - Contented ![]() Take care over there and stay safe and well (along with everyone else on here as well). Best regards, neil. |

Hi Neil,
Pi, is a very handsome fellow! I don't think that Lilac point Siamese every get dark like Hugo and Max. But my understanding is that its not unusual of Seal Point Siamese to be dark in coloring. Indeed this is a fun discussion! I would be surprised if Hugo was not a Seal Point Siamese. As for travel, I think that might be a problem for some time to come. We normally fly to Germany at least once a year. We had been traveling to South Tyrol Northen Italy every Fall, but that is out the question for this coming Fall. This pandemic is a disaster for the travel and tourism industries (and many others too). The airlines are furloughing employees and offering early retirement for others. Its a really a tough time for those of us that like travel photography! And horrors, no sports, especially no F1! ![]() Kind regards, Kelly |

![]() stray cat across the street, M. feeds the birdies year round. cats, hedgehogs will find dinner served near the back door. (not the best of combinations). a popular place among the neighbourhood cats. about a year ago a (-n extremely skittish) cat decided to move in, into the garden. because he never seemed to go home, I tried to take some pics for Amivedi, a national organisation that keeps a record of animals found and lost. ![]() december, 7th ![]() easter- shrunken, almost reached normal weight ![]() (Trioplan 100) may- they call him Brulboei (whistle buoy), because he sounds like a foghorn. still very skittish. ![]() ![]() ♪ in the jungle, the mighty jungle... ♫ ![]() for obvious reasons (laundry in the BG), tried to keep the DOF as shallow as possible again ![]() missing focus at times :S ![]() ![]() none of them passed 'the committee' anyway. "NOT sharp! half of the cat is unsharp, can't even see his tail!" "but", she chuckled, "first of all you'll have to learn to 'see'!", as she read in the Volkskrant, in the news paper. |

TYSM, Victor (love your pics!) and Fred (love your pics as well ;) sure do!)! very much appreciated!
![]() in my defense ![]() sometimes it helps a lot when your models don't dash off immediately! ![]() ![]() strange habits end of story? of course we needed to know whether he was chipped or not. there were options, but M. called the shelter and they picked him up. also to give him the full service within a fortnight: neutering, vaccinations, chipping (no chip c/b found), deworming. meanwhile M. missed him and decided to adopt him. and I'm glad, since he was used to being their boarder for a long time. and he's a sweet cat and therefore deserves a -golden?- basket of his own. (I happen to like cats that don't chase birds!). he'll come home on monday, tomorrow... comparison? ![]() fat cat took a while before I finally took some (found cat report)-pics, precided by endless discussions. when I said I had to change lenses, she said that (this lens thing was ridiculous, because) her ex-husband had a very!! small case with lenses, that allowed him to photograph E-VE-RY-THING. and he produced the most wonderful pics during his travels! point taken! (and head spinning ![]() ![]() 'WHAT?!?' ![]() december and june 25- half the cat he was -in terms of weight- ![]() (just hope it didn't affect his liver. losing weight rapidly can result in a fatty liver in cats -and rabbits, not dogs- ). he only comes up to me when I'm holding his food bowl. I can even touch him while he's eating. when M. is about to feed him, she says: "sit!" and he sits on his butt like a dog. ![]() |

neighbouring cats ![]() Frodo used to be an elegant slender cat on long legs, always minding his own business. he reminded me of an Egyptian Bast. early spring (aged 13), he started addressing people, while drooling and meowing like crazy as so many old (senile?) cats do. his sleek coat had become sticky and he had lost a lot of weight (huge understatement). he obviously needed food. ![]() ![]() his appearance and behaviour drew a lot of attention. I would be quite rich if I would had gotten 1 euro for every time people asked about this cat, some showing up with pet carriers to take him home. Frodo was not neglected though. he had a home, where he was fed and had a vet, who had diagnosed him with hyperthyroidism (thyroid gland working way too fast), but his people simply refused to force him to stay indoors. 3 times they had to pick him up from the shelter, where people had taken him to. if his situation hadn't been so dramatic, it would have been quite funny. (and nice to know how many people care). although still amazingly energetic, he was suffering of course and his family decided to put him down. ![]() ![]() ![]() also Frodo was a regular across the street ...to nick food from the kitchen. poor cat, always so hungry. ![]() caught in the act of stealing and killing almost defrozen pre-baked bread ![]() ![]() ![]() time for the next course... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() R.I.P.
