Agree on the background. Understand your point that you wanted faster loading times, but the solution might be to have plain colour background - perhaps grey light brown. Something relatively neutral will still working nicely with the two great images you've got on there.
Re the text (since that is what you asked about  )....FIRST SECTION Possibly stress that you can't just ask a photographer to do style x,y or z. That as well as being the right photographer for some people, you will also absolutely be the wrong choice for other people. This honesty and openness will help them trust the rest of what you share - that it isn't all a big marketing spiel, but actually trying to them (and you) find a good match. "When it comes to the more formal shots I will have carefully chosen a location which offers me the best lighting and backdrop." - try not to take too much away from the couple. Even if this is true, I would word it to suggest they have some choice in the matter. It reads a bit dictatorial. "It depends on your budget and how you much you value your photography." - think there's a typo in here  BUDGET section Always a tricky one to write. It could be worth linking to some articles you believe sum up your position instead of writing too much here. Then you get your point across but through the mouthpiece of neutral parties. "Do they have a contingency plan in place should something happen and they couldn’t get to your wedding?" - I'm not sure I'd even go here. Or if you do, it all needs reworking. You've just spent the first few paragraphs saying how important it is to pick the *right* photographer, but now you're saying that if you're sick, you know some photographers who can help. Nothing about anyone who matches your style or approach. Perhaps it's worth actually finding a specific 'buddy', who while not shared by name (since you don't want to lose business to them!), you and he or she agree to back up one-another when and where possible. Hope that's useful - and take it all with a pinch of salt, these are all just my opinions and if Dyxum has taught me one thing, it's that everyone has different (and equally valid) opinions

1st of all CONGRATS! you made it to the list! :-D
and love your pics! would love to see more? and ditto... (sorry?) (very own thoughts, since I clicked the link before reading the other comments). it's a beautiful BG, gorgeous! and it looks fine on my screen, but, as Heikki said, rather distracting. BG + text is not the best match? and what's more- I'm trying to read all on a super-duper Eizo screen, not on a (lower res.?) tablet or phone? and yes, would also consider picking 2 -clear but classy- fonts. 1 for the headers, 1 for the rest. and the most gorgeous script font for the names on the pics. (or keep those simple and adjust opacity and colour to make them blend in nicely). did you consider to place the text inside a retangle or square frame? with a rather solid coloured (white-ish?) BG. even when semi-transparent, it would improve readability? or to chop all up into chunks of text, small bit of BG, etcetera? looking at the 'about us' page now... a great pic that, MHO, would look much more classy when framed. and perhaps even better with a (beautiful!) signature added. -in white-. as striking and flamboyant the BG may be, does it reflect what you have to offer? does it enhance the shown wedding schemes? (couldn't you reserve it for just 1, (2?) of the pages?). 'dream' weddings are usually about luxury, abundance, class, fairytales, delicacy and so on. and most of all about the bride & groom. (but pls correct me if I'm wrong?). and IMHO the photographer's site should reflect that. (when you want to sell something, anything, offer emotions? -I would talk even more about THEM and what you can contribute. (and would try to rearrange sentences in a manner that less of them start with 'I'). 'story-telling' sounds great! reading the wedding links in blue was quite a challenge here, -again, depending on the BG-. for instance, I could only decipher 'St. Austell' because it looked familiar. not to mention the last Falmouth? this is not what you asked for, is it? ;-) forgive me??  edit: and agree with Simon Edited by angora - 13 May 2019 at 22:44 |

Some remarks:
The background: you use it across your website and I find it unsuitable as a background for text. On the about page I could harldy see the email link as it is blue on a blue background. BTW, the site feels somewhat dated, is that intentional for the kind of clients you have? "A couple of years" sounds like 2 or 3 years, that doesn't sound good. Just mention you did 400, or ad "almost 10 years" or "over 10 years". Maybe refrase "When it comes to the more formal shots I will have carefully chosen a location which offers me the best lighting and backdrop." to "When it comes to the more formal shots we will carefully choose a location which offers the best lighting and backdrop for the pictures." This: "they are not running a legitimate business." sounds like they are a front of something illegal and I would not go there. Re. the contingency plan I would firstly say that it did never happen - and if it happened I would describe the situation. With this one "I’m an active member of a number of local photography groups and lucky enough to have a number of photographers that I consider to be friends and I could find a replacement should I ever need to in an emergency." it sounds like your in this amateur photography group - if these are professional groups, I would mention that or else I would simply state that your friends with a number of professional photographers (and if they are not all professional, put it between brackets). Also, I would make it "adequate replacement that fits you." Hope this helps! BTW, your remark on the different styles is bang on when I compare your pictures with those of Richard! |

Just a couple of comments about the background image
I am a Cornwall Wedding Photographer and most of my clients have their wedding on the coast, the image is from my local beach at sunset and it emphasises my USP a landscape photographer turned wedding photographer so I would like to keep it as a background something different from the plain white BG's you normally see |
