Espoo is the second largest city and municipality in Finland. Since it is located west of Helsinki, it is integral part of the Finnish capital region.

1. The western extension of Helsinki metro has linked Espoo and Helsinki even closer than earlier, nowadays the western terminus is in Matinkylš, but the work on further extension to the west has already started

2. Half of the metro trains do not go that far in the west and stop at Tapiola

3. Closer look on the statue on Tapiola metro platform

4. "Garden town" Tapiola hosts for example the Espoo Culture Centre (the white building on the right)

5. Espoo Culture Centre and the Tapiola central pool

6. Laajalahti is a bay in eastern Espoo, well known for being important bird area, this is the view from Otaniemi side

7. The view from the other side

8. Another (surprising) urban bird paradise is Suomenoja, in the pools created for the water processing plant and next to a power plant

9. In north eastern part of Espoo (and expanding also into neighbouring municipaties) lies Nuuksio National Park
