Show us... Leipzig, Germany,

Show us cities of the world is your chance to show us where you live, or where you've been. Please feel free to share pictures from this location, or start a thread for a new location. The usual Dyxum content rules apply- but to assist fellow Dyxumers inspired to visit locations that are shown, please indicate where in your town/city the photos were taken.

This thread is open for C&C and for posting additional pictures. Please ONLY post pictures taken at the town or city indicated- or start a new thread.

Leipzig is a fascinating place and for many reasons; it has embraced the integration into Germany following the fall of the Berlin Wall and, after being away from here for a few years, I thought the changes quite startling. It is clearly trying to make up for lost time in terms of it's building plans and many new ones are sprouting up all over the centre. However, at times it also seems to be almost loosing a sense of it's past identity in this - these first shots show how the new is definitely overtaking the past...

1. Shopping Malls Galore

2. The Old in the New - I

3. Modern Patterns - I

4. The old in the New - II

5. The old in the New - III

6. Three Swans on a Balcony

7. The Old Still Has A Place

8. Modern Patterns - II

9. Modern Patterns - III

10. Slowly Being Swallowed

11. University Development

12. Windows

I'll have more to share on the older part of the city soon but if anyone has anything to add please do so to get a different viewpoint.

Kind regards, Neil.

Thanks Neil. I've only ever changed train in Leipzig, and didn't venture further than getting a coffee at a station kiosk. All days before I had an Alpha.

If I get another chance to head that way- I'll try to add some to the new thread.

F-Stop? F-Stopped! Anyone know how to get it going again???My Flickr

Unfortunately those modern un-photogenic and ugly buildings are swallowing (as you said) the beauty of those old buildings.
You have depicted that brilliantly by incorporating the old in the new.
I would be glad to see the old town photos too. TFS
