This is a kind of random exercise on my backlog of images. Stonehaven, on the coast of Scotland, had been an overnight stop for me getting back to London (by train, crossing the Firth of Forth bridge) - and an opportunity to take some photos.
#1 Stonehaven panorama #2 The other side of the bay #3 Moody, but not really blue #4 Preferred accomodation #5 Layers of houses #6 Leisure activities discontinued #7 Enterprising #8 Stormy #9 Heated (but currently closed) #10 Heated (but currently closed) #11 Facade #12 Color warrior #13 Cowie harbor (panorama) #14 Shack #15 Cowie harbor (panorama) C&C always welcome! Thank you for viewing! |

These convey a real sense of the town, the mix of granite and pebbledash typical of eastern Scotland. The autumn sun on the hay bales in the second picture makes for a pleasing image, farming and the sea being the traditional sources of employment. I like the gull in #7 and the cat in #11, the only signs of life apart from the birds in #10.

Thank you, Alan, for your kind response. At that particular day I saw almost no people on the streets - with the exception of one place: the local supermarket. Maybe soccer played a role (six league cup, two FA cup games on that day).

Nice series, I like the shack, layers of houses and harbour shots.Lovely to see a familiar place through someone elses eyes.
Been a long while since I`ve been up, was always a stop off on the road to Aberdeen as it had a spectacular fish and chip shop, one of the best I`ve been in. A friend lived there for a while after his first marriage and let`s say nights out with the local fishermen were interesting... You probably didn`t have time but the short trip just south of Stonehaven to Dunnottar castle yields some special images also. |
