Love this set. I've previously posted my photos from Varanasi elsewhere on Dyxum, and more recently so has @Svjetlana, and in both our cases we have presented a rather more aesthetic version of the place, focussing on its beauty, its rituals, its spirituality, its atmosphere, its antiquity.
What has been so well captured here both in the images themselves and in your post processing is the gritty rawness of the place, the dirt and debris, the mangy dogs, the smoke and smells which are all an inescapable part of the experience, as well as all those other rich qualities.

Hope no-one minds if I re-post my Varanasi images here to complement this "Show Us; Varanasi" set, and I'd suggest Svetlana might do likewise.

Hi Joe!
Of course I very much appreciate your photos in the thread! India for me has been a rather depressing experience (with a couple of exceptions) and that is probably reflected in the images I posted. So I think that other angles and a different mood might add to a more complete picture of this place.

And you have got a fine selection if images -I particularly like the images of the sun-lit banks of the Ganges river and of the Brahmins' ritual.

Thanks for sharing these - all the best, Harald.
