Here are two versions of coleseed pictures if been taken the 10th of May this year. The first one is in 1:1 and the seconde in landscape, i like to hear youre opinion of the photo's and which format you prefer.

Unlike many others you have chosen to use a tilted horizon in the frist one! Applause for this and the nice colors. The 1:1 ratio works well with the diagonal composition.

1 For me, the format, the colours. In two the effect of the filter is too strong IMHO. I would consider too step down the saturation a bit in two. But I can only tell from my point of view off course.

I like both. #1 because the square format does create some interest and attention in and of itself with the very nice diagonals. However, the bright white clouds on the right edge really grab the eye and because they seem too truncated act as a distraction. Still a very nice image. #2, more a classic composition for the subject is extremely well done with the horizontal lines gently flowing through the image. Since I don't know what the original colors looked like I am reluctant to comment on the saturation but it does almost go over the edge for me even not knowing the real deal.

True seconde is more classic and now with the black background i think maybe its a litle overdone colorwise.
The 1:1 version is like it was, i did not change the horizon ore anything. The clouds look like they going up ![]() Now as i present the 2 of them in one post,i see a diference in color and thts maybe the angle to the sun with the polafilter....... PP was in my 'good ![]() Thanks for youre reply! René. |

I like #1 better. The 1:1 crop and the horizontal thin cloudes give it a very balanced feel and the slanted ground makes it dynamic the same time. The layers of colours are also better seperated than in #2, imo.
The only nitpick I have are the big clouds on the right side. I'm not sure if I find them distracting or not, but my eye is constantly drawn to them. |

Number 1 for me for sure. Make it black and white and it would be somewhat reminiscent of an old school style landscape. It's great with Color for sure. That being said going B&W would emphasize the lines and the wispy clouds. Just an observation. Wish I had cool places like this to shoot where I live. Great art Daytona

#1, but I agree with Roger about those clouds. I see your point about another dimension, but cutting the top ones makes them seem like an error. You also said you didn't tilt the horizon, but you certainly did in-camera. I like it like that but again it creates problems with the puffy clouds since they are clearly tilted.
Having said that, I don't want to overemphaisise it. There are things I personally (only personally) don't like, but I really enjoy the picture, which is the most important thing. ![]() |
