I have a few Cosina Zeiss and Cosina Voigtlander "ZF2" lenses (manual focus Nikon F mount with mechanical aperture and ROM contacts) and have been adapting them to my Sony bodies using dumb adapters for a while. However, recently I have dumped all my older Nikon glass w/o ROM and is looking into getting a "smart" adapter that can talk to the chips on these lenses and allow full PASM exposure modes and full EXIF data.

The more expensive option is the Monster Adapter, which I can order from my contact/distributor in China directly, but is also a hassle to have it shipped to the US. Therefore, I am looking at Commlite (as well as rebrands, such as Viltrox) Nikon to Sony adapters. However, looks these adapters do have some reliability issues, therefore I would like to know the following:
- Do they work well with these chipped Zeiss/Voigtlander lenses? What are the limitations that I can expect (such as the focus magnifier not engaging automatically)?
- Commlite adapters also seemed to have a reputation of bricking/short-circuiting and destroy both cameras and lenses, have anyone encountered these issues, especially with Zeiss/Voigtlander glass?

Sincerely
