Interested in peoples feedback on my Zenfolio site

Havent put together my "Portfolio" set yet - e.g. my best of photos.
Currently using it mostly for uploads of Motorsport photos for people to purchase.

Hoping to be able to start using the blog functionality a little more with event updates etc too.

Thanks!

I like Zenfolio and use it myself, though also need to update it so it's good to see what someone else has done with it.

Firstly you've got some great photos! I'd be tempted to put more on the front page though as cycling through four is quite quick. I have a similar front page on my site and on reflection I think I will remove the carousel from mine. Rather than being a nice teaser it actually ends up being all people look at rather then delving into the menus.

I then clicked on the 'all photos' link and personally I found it a bit distracting having different watermarks on different images, and it came across a bit amateur (but that's probably the photographer in me talking rather than someone browsing normally). The main problem with the 'all photos' link is that actually it's an 'all albums' link. It baffled me when I clicked on what I thought was a photo, rather than seeing a larger version, I saw a smaller version alongside other images and had to click again to see a larger version. I think renaming it to all albums or similar will resolve it.

The next thing is the number of clicks. Going back to the 'all photos' link, but assuming it's 'all albums'. I see the pic of the 'Antilag Supercruises' and want to open those photos, so I click. But instead of seeing all related pics, I then have to choose between two further galleries. Finally in front of images, I can click one and see it big. Maybe try to cut out one or two layers of the folder structure.

Onto the about section. Try to add a link to the contacts page into the text around the section where you ask "Feel free to message me". I know it's a menu item at the top but you want it to be as easy as possible for someone to contact instinctively.

Hope that's useful input.

More general zenfolio issues, I must say I really struggle to choose between showing images with the album images to the side or to jumping straight to the 'dim the lights' mode or not. From an analytics perspective it's more useful to have the photo pages view because ' dim the lights' doesn't change the URL so you don't know which images are of interest or how many are clicked on it. But I think it's a less nice view for people browsing so I forgo on the stats to give - hopefully - a better user experience.

Thanks for the response, i trialled a couple before settling on Zenfolio and quite like it.

I will add some additional photos to the front page, I'm just trying to decide what I want there, i presume a variety of subject matter will be a good thing.

Good idea RE the all-photos thing, I may remove that button altogether.
People will either go in via direct album link or can go in via section.

I see what you mean about the albums, the issue with the motorsport events are that they are all seperate events, and someone doesnt want to trawl through 1000 images to find the day that they were present.
