Thanks for the comment and the suggestion Chris, a second version with a slightly blurred border in the background can be found in the outtakes
You can see the April Foolishness 2021 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

Day 2 Comments
LAbernethy - Symmetrical composition and great light work for me.
pegelli - A nice, crisp repeat of the day 1 shot approach. I like the contrast between old and new.
Phil Wood - I like the combination of sharp foreground and blurred bacground textures.
addy landzaat - Good composition using the sign to draw interest into the image towards the subject.
alanfrombangor - Looks like a tricky shot to take and retain focus - ISO1600 and 0.1 seconds. Was it handheld?
Howard_S - Lots to see in this image - cleverly done from such a potentially plain subject
onsplekkie - A great shot! Really clever approach with a hint of detail and a ton of atmosphere
Fred_S - I like the repeat of the blue subject/warm background colours from day 1. Would love to see this develop over the week.
mikey2000 - I like the tight composition and really clever choice of aperture and exposure time to make the shot. I don't know how you kept everything apart from your fingers still for 2 seconds!
alpha_in_exile - Another extension of day 1 showing off the shapes and lines of the subject, perfectly executed.

After being gently reprimanded for being creative in one session rather than in several separate ones, I had to retake some photos. Yesterday was one example, and today - deep in the technical challenge of coaxing a 25-year-old digital A-mount camera back into productive life, I took this

I might place this - or a variant - in my Photo 150 Vintage Digital theme.

Let me tell thee the ways I have been challenged:

* The Minolta RD-175 (requires three different batteries),
* a CF card in a PCMCIA adapter as an alternative to the PCMCIA type III hard disk card that the camera was designed to use,
* a cloned unique-Mind-of-Minolta card image (the camera is designed to be viewed as a TWAIN device so there are operating constraints),
* a file format (MDC) that is recognised by hardly any software I use.

Fortunately the Minolta v2 software runs on an old Windows (7 I think) laptop and converts MDC to TIF or JPG (or BMP for that matter). Mac software went out with the Power PC chip, I think.

And then, when you take a photo in low light not all the image is captured, hence the lines.

My intended photo is in the outtakes section .. I'm just saying that the creativity isn't always apparent in the surface of the photo!

End of rant.

@Howard - at least after that effort we ... um, er, okay, um ... got to see a photo with nice and evenly spaced horizontal lines on it. If that was the original intention then: bravo!

@ons - seeing #3 I can now see what #2 is (very subtle, very creative!)

@addy - I can only just see the item in #3 (but it is there), nice lighting, love that time when there is still some sky color and the lights go on

@fred - super shot of the swirl

Having shot my Mo/Tu/We I think I've neglected the word 'creativity' a little. Mmmm. Should get to editing.

Think I've also just realized that some of y'all don't do thumbnails so I'm missing some viewing like I did during week50mm.

I could not say that was my intention as with this technology you can't predict what's going to happen. Carpe photo or making the best of what you have is the philosophy here.

onsplekkie Day 3 - nice detail shot!

mikey2000 Day 3 -

I must admit I'm struggling to be 'creative', and I would prefer to do a better job controlling the lighting in my shots -- I need to plan better & take more time...

@Phil - am enjoying this series more as the 'hoopy thing' is being revealed. Have you purposefully decided to 'zoom out' with each image? Or is that by luck. The blue/white clouds were a neat addition to day 4.

Seeing your object (and @addy's statue thing) has made me think of a think I could use something along the beach from me. Something that I'd need changing light and viewpoints to get a series of 7 images from.
