Last year Day Prime was extremely low participation.

Would be a petty, I extended my range significantly during last year. However I understand you can't run such a challenge for a handful of people. Should we do a poll to see who is interested to join the party?

I've always liked the idea and have participated when I could, but still not very often. The rules defeat participation for me by requiring the specific day. Most times, the day is a weekday and I, as well as many others, am working. Then if I have enough energy left, weather and light play a role. Of course, the "day of" is the nature of the challenge, so it will remain limiting unless changed in a way to allow more participation. I would appreciate allowing the weekend to capture all focal lengths occurring in the week prior. Looking at just this month and the lenses I have, I will miss the 24th, 25th, and 30th. I will likely be able to participate on the 28th, a Sunday, if I remember. |

Me too. I missed quite a few days last year. A little flexibility with days would have had some more from me. It would be nice to spead out things. I like the week 50 idea. Maybe group the days into weeks. Like 1 to 7 mm lenses anytime this week ending on Sunday. 8 to 14 mm lenses anytime next week. Etc... Edited by QuietOC - 04 January 2018 at 22:48 |

It would certainly help participants as I`m in the same boat with workdays and light..not that weekends are always free of family demands!
Quite a few have suggested a week 35-40something for example as week 50 falls in the deep dark for many of us. |

I'll think about it. Should Day Prime become Week Prime? It's an idea, yes.
My personal plan is to devote less time to Day Prime. I started something new and I need time for that. All ideas to generate more participation are welcome! |

Week prime would give the participants a bit more freedom and flexibility, but wouldn't that require more effort from setting up the weekly threads by the moderators?

I say we just throw the pictures and comments in one thread like we have been doing for Day Prime. And if someone wants they can still shoot on the precise day.

2017 was 47 pages, so while that's not gigantic I think it's worthwhile to continue. The Meyer group can also post some of their images there when taken on the right day. To get a bit less strict we could allow pictures taken +/- 1 day. What do you think about that? We're discussing the week prime idea and we will probably see some of those as well, but that should not stop day prime, there's only 52 weeks, and we want to see pictures from longer lenses as well Edited by pegelli - 06 January 2018 at 09:29 |

love that 'round' lens of yours! it's APS-C, isn't it?! :-S
did you adjust the 'borders'? (the 'round' lenses I've used usually reveal a lot around the edges). I for one never participated in the prime challenge, because I didn't want to pollute it (since I'm very good at that!). because the shown samples were often nothing short of magnificent. apart from that I'm no 'lenskeeper'. yet? ;-) but every time an old -or even 'unknown'- lens came unto my path, I browsed the thread, (hoping) to find samples. (there were not too many dedicated other mount lens threads at the time). |

I will start the Day Prime 2018 threads today.
Imo it's a good idea to bend the rules a bit to allow members more time to make photos. |

The Meike 6.5 F2 is a 190 degree circular fisheye lens for APS-C. I have two wide converters on the front of it here to get it down to 3 mm. The converters are way too small for the lens, so I just get a small circular image in the middle which I have cropped here. Here is a normal shot with it.
