Another Rokinon 8mm fish, but this time breaking away from the staircase theme. This bubble eye is the early version = plain CS designation and only opens to f3.5. It's one that has a Nikon mount so I mounted it on my AI-to-FE adapter. And even tho' my mama told me not to play with aps-c fisheyes on full frame bods, I put it on my a7 anyways!
1. Sikorsky chopper through a baroque vignette and baffled window ![]() No doubt others have already tested their specimens on full frame sensors and shown the results, but just to clarify: this isn't the result of anything between rear element and sensor, so it must be something in between the glass inside the lens (presumably to try to minimize glare?). To me it's a neverending surprise that (a) the interior baffle crops the projected image almost rectangularly, but not quite and (b) combined with vignetting corners due to the fixed hood the result is a baroque "cartouche" border to the useable part of the image. Fun for framing effects, but after this next shot I've cropped to the inside dimensions of the baffle's window. 2. Looking too deep into the Sikorksy's nostril ![]() 3. An equally rude angle up the behind a Catalina seaplane ![]() 4. A fisheye perspective can fold the Catalina from front to back into one dizzying shot ![]() 5. Ditto for a Matt Groening-like rendition of this long-eared classic ![]() 6. The iconic rounded wingtip of a Spit - at maximum warp ![]() 7. Zany art: Steve Maloney's "Ride 'em Copter" explosion of bling ![]() Edited by pdeley - 09 January 2018 at 05:40 |

I darkened the edges of the circle (somewhat) as it gets a bit confusing there. The fish is sometimes (almost) full frame, depends very much on focussing distance. Optically not stellar but OK, not like Leo's MD 7.5 Fish that looks like the real deal! Then again, the Lensbaby Fish is very cheap and tiny and strange enough has a flat front lens.

Well, yesterday didn't allow any time for pics so I missed Day 8.
Luckily the new weekly rules allow me to post still! Yay! Inspired by the staircase theme..... Ascension ![]() Camera Model: ILCE-6000 | Lens: Samyang 8mm Fisheye | Focal Length: 8 mm | Aperture: f/8.0 | Exposure Time: 0.1 sec (1/10) | ISO: 3200 and a visit to Nik Color FX Pro |

Paul: snow in St Petersburg, of course!
![]() Paul: that aircraft loves your fish! ![]() Paul: the Rokkor Fish 7,5 is an old fish, it is (very) soft until F13; it's a lot more sexy than the Lensbaby and the Samyang but that has its price. Mike: Somehow I expected a rabbit on those stairs. Glad you like the new rules! |

mariuszlo - that's quite a sight to see. Nicely framed with the distant buildings. They are interesting enough to see but even more interesting is the frozen waters. It's just something totally unexpected - I hope it warms up soon....
Paul - I was just thinking I'd forgotton how wide 12mm was on full frame then I saw your 10mm pics. ****wide!*****!!! The one that shows it off best is the first one. Quite dizzying and I love the distant fade-to-white. Here's my 12mm haul for today (Sigma 12-24 HSM mk2) Strangely, I also wanted a 'fade to white' pic too... Yes, 10mm is almost too wide. It is a lens for special occasions (like Day 10 ![]() |

The 12mm Lensbaby Fisheye Optic is full frame and has a flare feature that I had completely forgotten (long live Day Prime): the black area around the image circle will take on the colour of a bright subject or light source near the lens, adding a ring of colour to the image. It's a colour that is already in your photo, so it matches well!

Leo, my 10 mm images did require some streching in LR. I need a mechanical spiritlevel as the viewfinder spiritlevel doesn't work 'up'.

Mike, 12 mm is wide but the last 2 mm makes all the difference. I like the Airplane interior, good light and the orange leading lines accentuate the depth!
