Day Prime 2022

Believe it or not, 2022 is already the 12th year we're running the "Day Prime" challenge.

Bob J started with the idea in 2011 and Leo ran it for 8 years until 2019 when pegelli took over for 2020 and later

If you want to get inspiration from previous years here's the links to the previous ten editions:

2011
2012
2013 part 1
2013 part 2
2014
2015
2016
2017
2018
2019
2020
2021

The challenge is to use as many of your lenses as possible in 2022

The idea of this challenge is inspired by Week 50, in which participants shoot with a 50mm lens for the 50th week of the year. The Challenge of Day Prime is to post pictures taken on the appropriate day for the lens - hence shots with a 16mm taken on 16 January, 28mm on 28 January and so on (after January it becomes more difficult but see the next post).

Day Prime is organised on basis of weeks. Day Prime weeks run from Monday till Sunday. The focal lengths that fall in that week should be used in that week; for example: week 1 runs from Monday January 3 - Sunday January 9 and is for focal lengths from 3 mm to 9 mm. On what day of the week this/these FL(s) is/are used is up to you but the photos should not be made before January 3 or after January 9.

This means you have a whole week to use your lens(es). Of course you still can use your lens(es) on the appropriate day, but if that day doesn't suit you because of work or weather or whatever, you can make your photo on any other day of that week.

Also because there are few lenses to use the later month of the year we made a change last year that we will do this year as well. For the month of November and December any lens over 300 mm goes anywhere in those month.

Day Prime is called a challenge, but it's very easy going:

Rules:

You can use any prime lens you like
You can use any zoom lens you like, but you can only use the zoom ends
Adapters and converters that change the FL of the lens are not allowed except for dedicated converters (such as for the Sony E16/2.8 and/or FE28/2) and teleconverters for FLs of 135mm and more
You are free to use A-mount and E-mount cameras, no others
You can post as many photos as you like made on the appropriate day/in the appropriate week
You can only post the photos that were made on the appropriate day/in the appropriate week
Cropping and minor straightening is allowed, but the photo should reflect the focal length of the lens

Have fun!

Further notes:
Please add EXIF data: camera used, lens used, aperture, exposure, iso
You don't have to sign up: just post your photos!
You can't drop out of this challenge: you decide on the days you want to participate: the challenge is to participate on as many days as you can
It would be nice if you post your better shots also in the Sample Images subforum (for A- and E-mount lenses) or go here for samples with non-native lenses

This challenge is for everyone! Everyone will learn something and everyone can enjoy it.
If you have not joined before and do not fully understand the guidelines, do not worry. Just start posting and ask as many questions as you want.

My first though was, Leo is jumping the gun, but we are organised in weeks I see. I'm oldfashioned (for now), 4 mm on day 4.

I have done better with this thing in the past. Lousy light, too little time. Perhaps this weekend I'll have another go.

Awesome Harm!
Paul I need to get checked for OCD because 4.1: Eccentricity is just off kilter enough, but not completely, to short some circuits up here LOL

Freelensing Ganesh with eight fishy mm ...
Samyang 8/2.8 (mine says Rokinon like Mariusz') held off the mount. Obviously moving a 8mm is going to move the focus plane to the front element, so the closest I could hold it the focus point was a few mm away. The non-removeable hood makes it more challenging.
Ganesh is two inches tall.
nex3 and it's not-very-good 14MP sensor (but better than no sensor LOL, and the tiny camera and tiny lens is extremely useful).

8.1 Ganesh

f2.8, hey look a blurry background at 8mm LOL

8.2 Ganesh, remover of obstacles

f16, lots of dust spots cloned out!

8.3 Ganesh, OM

f16

Wouldn't dream of it Paul! But I thought week one would start January 1. I was tempted to join you on Day 4, I quite like what you are doing with this lens but decided to wait a bit and use my good old Rokkor 7,5 for week 1. Here's another Fish/Cat confrontation, made on Day 1 :

How a Fish sees a CAT
