Well, just Pate Melone (Scott) & Me & my family ventured out for a beautiful day. Remembrance Day commemorates the 11th Hour of the 11th Day of the 11 Month when the Armistice was signed to bring World War 1 to an end. These photos were all taken at the Shrine of Remembrance built in the memory of those Victorians who served and who fell.
1) At 11 am precisely (except for daylight savings - now it's at midday!!) the sun comes through a hole in the roof and strikes the centre of the plaque inside the shrine: 2) The Shrine guards in formation wearing the uniform of the Lighthorse Regiment 3) And again 4) Raising the flag 5) The Cenotaph 6) The Armed Services Chiefs 7) The parade of Colours - Navy, Army & Air Force (L to R) 8) Reflecting on past campaigns 9) The Formalities 10) Guarding the Eternal Flame & Cenotaph 11) Statue in the Crypt (lit by a single red floodlight from above) 12) Another Shrine Guard Edited by natamambo - 11 November 2007 at 15:16 |

Excellent series! The hole in the roof that shines on the plaque each 11/11 at 11:00 is a neat idea. It looks as if you caught it to the second.

Nice photos Graham, #8 is a great capture - any chance of making #10 as big as other landscape-orientated photos (in proportion)? Its my second fav in this set

Stunning images Graham and Scott. Scott's number 7 image is a little disorienting for some reason (nearly fell off the chair). Great image.
Now I wasn't there, and this isn't from Melbourne, and I don't want to hijack your thread - but in the spirit of the event, I did want to share this: I hope you don't mind. |

Thanks all. I am finding my perspective on life has changed a little since the 70-200SSM arrived, and the 2x TC finally showed up on Fri so I got off a few with that too. I really must show some self discipline some time and take it off the camera and use some other lenses .
Scott, try bringing out the shadows in PP for you plaque shots. The detail the A700 captures is amazing, you might find more detail in them than you think - the one displayed required the least amount of PP but I could get the marble to show up clearly in even the most underexposed shot. Also, are you're pics processed from teh RAW or the Jpegs? Some of them seem to have much more colour than mine - especially the ones of the marchers coming up the forecourt with the trees behind them from our position? Hi Graham without getting away from the topic of this thread I have been struggling with my PP and the A700.
These are all processed from raw using Capture One V4 by converting to dng's. But I must admit I have not been happy with the colours especially greens. I just re processed some file using ACR 4.2. Do the colours look better in these? I think looking at these I may stick with ACR for a while untill C1 gets native support for the A700. I just cant use the Sony software dose not do it for me at all. |
