As it turned out this was a mini-meeting between Paul (4paul) and Harald (waldo_posth), beginning on the late afternoon of Monday, August 12, 2019, at the Northern end (Javits Conventioon Center) of the Highline, ending, after sunset, on the banks of Hudson river.
First the unavoidable mini-group shot: #1 The Highline offers elevated viewpoints, usually a crowd of people moving along, an increasing number of recently built or refurbished, expensive, and architecturally spectacular residential quarters - which are immediately adjacent to it. In Hell's Kitchen, where the Highline ends, still some meatpacking operations exist - but the Highline has accelerated a process of gentrification that has been changing this neighborhood since quite some time (I visited it the last time 2007 when Stella McCartney just had opened her store in Hell's Kitchen). So that's my mixture: people, abstracts, views. #2 Mercury building #3 Portrait of Paul #4 Portraits of Andy and Frida (and Keith is also appearing) #5 Just happy in New York #6 Street view #7 Curtains #8 Still Life #9 View into the meatpacking quarters #10 Come together! #11 A single soul #12 New Jersey skyline across the Hudson river Sony A7RM2 with Sony CZ Vario-Tessar F/4.0 16-35mm, Leica M-Summicron F/2.0 50mm and Minolta AF F/2.0 100mm C&C always welcome! Since my current computer does not allow for exact rendering of colors I tried my best not to provide oversaturated versions - my apologies if that didn't work! Thank you for viewing, nonetheless! |

Harald,
Great to see. Obviously taking parts of NY that are less visited, but well worth the effort of going. I really like #2 Mercury building and #7 Curtains, both of them an original take on windowed facades, #8 Still life, and #9 View into the meat packing quarters with its unaltered streetscape and that glimpse of neighbourhood daily life with the sparse traffic and pedestrians going about their business. Thanks for sharing, and looking forward to more from you and from Paul. |

Thank you, Paul, for that very fine set! I am thankful for your #7 - the better shot without a tripod! Didn't notice the Alpha at all! I like #3 and #4 very much! It's been a great walkabout! Thank you, again!
Joe, I am not sure that one could describe the Highline as a less visited part of NYC. There are crowds. Being used to the fact that in NYC everything is bigger, taller and nicer I would say the Highline is too small for New York. It should have at least double the size it has (longer, wider, maybe also higher) - that would make it more New York-like. But certainly a rewarding place for photography! |

Paul,
Love your take on this walkabout. Particularly #2 your homage to @waldo_posth, #4 Three pair, and especially #5 Splitting Three Pair. Brilliantly spotted and taken. More please? |

Really cool series. For me the best part is seeing faces attached to the names.

Yup!
Thanks again for a wonderful walkabout, Paul! My favorites are #2, #4, #5 and #12 (portraits as usually exempted from that choice) - sorry again about the colors (next weekend I will be at my home computer again and check - and repair - my sins!) All the best, Harald. |

Well, as I told you - I am about a year behind in my schedule. And spending a month in Boston doesn't help.
