This thread contains the photo output (and comment) of a Dyxum members meeting. To find out more about Dyxum meetings, visit the meetings sub-forum!

Lets start this probably long thread up:)

I asked Swede66 to wright a short starter for this:

"The bizarre car

Maffe asked me to try to write a short story about the trip to the First International Dyxum Meeting in Norway. I will try to keep it as short as possible.

Part 1, 24th of may, Rättvik-Preikestolen:

As this trip was my first ever Photography trip I felt kind of nervous when picking up Revolver, hymy ( later referred to only as the "crazy finns") and Maffe from the train. One of the first things that came up driving west towards the Norwegian border was that we were the 7DMOBIL, going to hunt the perfect light in Norway.

When the first view struck us we weren’t really prepared for the insane beauty that spread out in front of us. When I stopped the car we just sat for some 30 seconds to be able to grasp this view, then the insanity started, 4 grown up people rushed out the Opel Zafira ( for you english, Opel is a Vauxhall but with the steering wheel on the left “right” side) armed with 7D’s with Vertical grips and endless supplies of ammunition, the Gigabyte war on Norway had started.

And from there it just went worse, As I was driving, my passengers were rolling down window shooting at everything and nothing. I hade some complaints from the"crazy finns" that the backsets had no power windows and that it was not fair that Maffe in the front seat had. Take it easy kids, please. We had a lot of fun in the car and there was a lot of satan perkelä from the back as the "crazy finns" was crawling over each other in the seat to shoot out of the windows on both sides of the car and some more satan perkelä when getting telephone poles in the shots, Revolver even got 2 poles in the same picture, LOL.

Then we ran out of luck, up in the mountains we had to stop for 40 minutes because of some repair job in a tunnel, reassuring huh! It would get even more nasty, driving down to the fjords, the fog and the rain hit us. The fog was so thick you could cut it with a knife, not really but the combination of having been driving for almost 12 hours, thick fog, heavy rain and roads really narrow with the mountainside on one side and steep cliffs on the other made us miss the last ferry with about 15 d*mn minutes, frustrating. After the first irritation and disappointment had settled we decided to sleep in the car unil the first ferry came at 06,10. I can’t say that we slept very much but we rested and we finally arrived at our destination the next morning only to find out that the hostel hadn’t opened yet. After an hour’s sleep in the car again, we finally could check in. We had arrived to the First International Dyxum Meeting in Norway. I don’t know how many Gigs worth of pictures the “crazy finns” and Maffe have together, probably a lot more than me, I took 12 shots during the 21 hours we had been on the move but this was only the beginning........."

I´m eagerly waiting for part two!

Many thanks to Kim and Morten for starting this meeting and thanks to all of the fantastic Dyxumers who came!

I like to give a honorable mention to Martin ( mgjsmith) who never thought he would make it to the top, well done!
Same goes to the wifes of Wietse and Kennet ( jkp1) first of all they survived a meeting with same really crazy people and they made it to the top and back!

Part 2 , 25th of may, Preikestolen:

Since we were already up, well not everybody, Maffe went to take a nap after
breakfast while me and the “crazy finns” decided to explore the surroundings
while waiting for the rest of the Dyxumers to show up. We found some really
nice views but also a snake that after a couple futile attempts to run from
us, gave up and was kind enough to do some modelling for us. Off course the
“crazy finns” had to overdo it, suddenly they had taken out a reflektor and
was shooting macro on the poor snake. Revolver was so close to snake he
actually almost poked the snake in the face with the lens hood. We got some
pretty good shots but it was a bit scary. After lunch Mortenva arrived with
Wietse and wife and we decided to go hiking. We went only the first part of
the trail to Preikestolen but I promise you there were enough fill another
10 Gb or more of memorycards. The scenery is fantastic, you’ve seen the
shots here but they can’t really make it justice, it has to been seen.
Anyway, when we came back it was time for dinner and the rest of the brave
Dyxumers had arrive, kimare, mgjsmith, jkp1 and his wife. We had made
reservations and got the best table. The staff had shirts saying ” Food with
a view” and take look again at jkp1’s shot from the restaurant you’ll see
that they weren’t lying. The dinner was quite fun, mortenva and kimare had a
hard time explaining the menu and then translating to the waitress
everybodies wishes. The day ended with me, Maffe, the crazy finns, mortenva,
kimare and mgjsmith sitting in our bedroom talking and zipping from a bottle
of whiskey untill late, well except for the crazy finns as they don’t drink.

/ Maffe ( thanks jkp1 for let me put this in his post)

So lets see some shots and hear some more stories!

Just have a look at what you missed :-)     (inverse "4" on the side..)

I'm going to be there in less than 100 days, so... I'm not really upset right now :)

Anyways... it's obvious that you guys had a great time, we're proud of you :)

Great shots!!! Keep them coming. I see you were the only one to wake up early today :)

Oh, and that's a Sony (Ericsson) phone in the last one (I have one of those myself). Did he also have an A100 with him? :D

We were booked for the early ferry from Norway this morning at 730AM, but luckily we escaped from Norway with another ferry last night, came home approx 0140 monday morning....had plenty of sleep :-)

And by the way, Martin didnt have the A100, only 7D and some strong sugar stuff to repair the content of sugar in his blood.

Would have been nice to have been able to meet you there...
