To kick off the Dyxum Benelux meeting: The inevitable group shot.
We were walking the almshouse route (is the the correct word?)in Haarlem, the Netherlands And when it started raining we choose to kill the time with making a group shot. There were 20 different versions, supported by growing understanding of the timer function in the Sony A9 and the remote control that could be exercised. Well. Here goes . . . version 17 From right to left (ladies first): Jet (@jetsplace), Fred (Fred_S), Domien (dopol), Heikki (Hezu), Marcel (mr @jetsplace) Edited by Dopol - 01 October 2017 at 10:09 |

Despite the disappointing weather we had a good meeting, ending with a visit to the St. Bavo church (after Domien left). Thanks all for the nice day! Pictures to follow, but two busy days ahead, so some patience may be required...

Let's start with some walking the street shots, awaiting the others shots of the almshouse route.
D01: the 'coffee' that we started with It's hard to MF at CFD with large Aperture D02: Don't panic, it's only me. D03: You shouldn't make fun of other people D04: Did I mention the enormous amounts of bicycles there? D05 I asked Heikki (Hezu) the name of the Finnish inventor of printing. Since he is Finnish, he immediately gave me the name. Well this is the statue of the guy the Dutch people believe invented printing. I can't remember the Finnish name but it surely wasn't Laurens Coster, as was written on the statue. It is clear: every country honors it's own inventor of printing. D06 We were very happy to find out Flamingo's were on sale D07 An example of the more exotic bikes we encountered. Edited by Dopol - 01 October 2017 at 17:19 |

A nice start from you Domien! I like 2 and 3 in particular. Well captured moments.
Sorry to hear about your lack of focus Jet! This also may have caused you (and Marcel) entering an almshouse with a clear sign 'no entrance' F01 F02 Hiding for the rain, just before we decided to take the group shot to kill the time. Like Pieter I have to move a daughter, so probably my following photo's will not be posted before Tuesday evening |

I got back home safe and sound. It was nice to see you fellow dyxumers in flesh.
I haven't yet had time to properly sort out 265 pictures I took that day (ok, dozen of them were taken in Zaandam where I spent the next night - on a nice river boat accomodation!), but here is few pictures for starters... H01 Dutch photographers talking with each other (most likely in a language I don't really understand) α7R II + CZ 4/24-70 @ 44 mm, f/11, 1/100 s, ISO 2000 H02 The most interesting animal sighting - and the place for that was quite interesting too: Grote of Sint-Bavokerk! α7R II + Zeiss Batis 2/25 @ 25 mm, f/3.5, 1/100 s, ISO 6400 H03 Closer look of that bat (yes, the focus is sadly not the best possible...) α7R II + Sony FE 2.8/90 Macro G OSS @ 90 mm, f/2.8, 1/60 s, ISO 6400 |

Good to see that you didn't loose your SD cards
@Fred I like #13, I certainly would have missed it. And the architecture shots (11, 12) of course. I think I like your take on the gate (f03) better then mine (d24) @hezu Amazing bat you found in the church (H03) And though it seems the weather was bad all the time, there were certainly dome dry spells as well.
