It was great to meet up with Art (ADub128) at Anaheim last Tuesday...
I've now recovered sufficiently from my travels to post a few pics - Art will hopefully follow in a few weeks or so, as he was shooting film. Our initial 'group shot'... (me on the left) a99 * Zenitar 16 * f/5.6 * 1/60 * ISO 250 Inside the ARTIC (Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Centre) a99 * Zenitar 16 * f/5.6 * 1/800 * ISI 200 Anaheim is home to a number of stadia.. including for the Mighty Ducks a99 * Zenitar 16 * f/5.6 * 1/800 * ISO 200 Blue sky, palm trees, but what you cant see is the cold wind off the mountains... a99 * Zenitar 16 * f/5.6 * 1/2000 * ISO 200 Outside the ARTIC a99 * Zenitar 16 * f/5.6 * 1/1600 * ISO 200 The full fishy view inside.. a99 * Zenitar 16 * f/5.6 * 1/1250 * ISO 200 A cropped fishy group shot a99 * Zenitar 16 * f/5.6 * 1/500 * ISO 200 The colour balance seems really warm here, but it is fairly close to what I remember from the time (Maybe that was just me recovering from the flight out) It was really great to meet up with Art - I hope to see some of his film stuff posted soon! Bob ... I'm glad you made it back home safely! Pleasure to meet you in person. It's always great to meet Dyxum members in the real world.
-- Yes, the images do look a little warm, but it is southern California . It was surprisingly cold that day though. -- The ARTIC is an interesting spot with its cool lines and curves. I need to go back on evening when it's all lit up. -- In your 5th shot here, you do get a hint of the wind with the slightly leaning palm trees. -- I've never considered using a fisheye for portraits, but will try that now. The last two shots are my favorite. Let me know if you're out this way again soon. I'll have to visit London soon too! I have about 30 shots left on that roll. I should have shot more ... it may take a couple of months . I will post in this thread. BTW, have you posted pics from San Diego? Did you make it to San Juan Capistrano or Ocean Beach? |

Bob ... I finally got my roll finished and processed! Here are some snaps. So crazy this was just 6 weeks ago, pre-coronavirus craziness. Stay safe, stay healthy out there! I'll come visit you next time ... always great to have the rare, in-person Dyxum meetup.
The One and Only BobJ The ARTIC (Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center -- yes, a mouthful) The ARTIC at a Dutch Angle ARTIC Atrium Looking Back Towards Honda Center (where the Anaheim Ducks play ice hockey) All were shot with my Maxxum 9, Tamron 28-75 (first researched here on Dyxum around 2006!) with Ilford HP5 Plus 400. |

Bravo Art - you make me look quite presentable!
No more US trips for a while yet - this whole pandemic thing makes delivering stem cells just a little more complicated... |

Some nice pictures! One thing, it is Anaheim after the German word "heim" meaning home, not Anahiem. I noticed that a lot of English speaking people do not know the difference between "ei" and "ie". So many write Ziess in stead of Zeiss. To me, it is really strange that people write Zeiss wrong so often. |

@BobJ -- why yes, it's nice to shoot full-frame sometimes! Kudos goes to my Maxxum 9 for the excellent autofocus and metering to make you look so good.
Yes, it feels like the world is on hold at the moment. What's the mood like there? On my trips, the stores have been busy but not crazy. However, today, my wife went out and the store was metering people in ... hmmm. @Addy -- thanks! In the U.S., in elementary school, we are taught "i before e except after c" and then learn so many special cases, like Anaheim, Zeiss, eight, stein, weigh, neighbor, sleigh, etc. |
