Today I had to drop off our youngest at the Amsterdam Dance Academy for a weekend of lessons. So I called Domien and despite the weather (lots of rain) we roamed the streets of Amsterdam. I also took the opportunity to test Maffe's 24/2.8, that came in the mail just before the weekend, so this series is probably a little more "wide angle" than you're used to see from me.
We started early, and needed coffee very soon One of the dogs that didn't rain Love the close focus of the 24/2.8 One of the few shots with another lens (85/1.4), as I'm sure they didn't want me as close as they were Amsterdam guide leading a group of ladies And a B&W streetshot to close this first post in honour of the owner of this nice little lens All shots with A850, exif inside. So Domien, now it's your turn. |

I think the 24/f2.8 is my favourite - but I'm just using it on am a700 where it is equivalent to to 36... On full-frame it becomes wonderfully wide... Looks like good use was made of a rainy day :-)

Very interesting set. All your shots are very good at showing why the 24 FL exists, especially the shot with the Amsterdam guide, a very nice shot, that is successful because of your low point of view.

Great to some pictures from Amsterdam. Too bad about the weather but I am sure you had a great time. Looking forward to seeing more.

Nice to see this well known place in your photo's. Actually i like #6 best and the b&w is a good choice here as it could also be a photo of the "Zeedijk" taken 50 years ago (only the clothing of the people suggest it is 2011..).

Very nice set. Pity about the rain but it gave you the great shot with the 2 girls under the umbrella: elk nadeel hep ze voordeel

Great set despite gloomy conditions. I like Amsterdam shot best, great subject in environment.
(And so starts the lust for a 24/2.8 ) |

It didn't change that much 25 years ago now For real, the front of this pub didn't change (much) for 30 years |

It WAS raining
We had to sit in a (busy) restaurant for shelter and regaining normal body temperature Of course to shorten the wait we had food The Man (with a light hat) and his (healthy) food It was raining cats and dogs, even they wanted to leave the streets Luckily there were signs of coming better weather A family appeared And out of nowhere there was a violin player so everything ended well domien edit for typos Edited by Dopol - 13 February 2011 at 11:07 |

Good story, Domien.... starts off quite normal but gets increasingly strange. Good shots too. Cat is a great catch and I like the family and the bicycles too.
Also a very nice set from Pieter the street photographer! I like the close focus and the last two particularly. |

wow, that second series is even better. as for the 50 years comment, i was referring to some other shopwindows.
i especially like the image of the bikes in the rain on the ferry and the image of the "lunchroom" (the central station i assume). seems Pegelli is enjoying a culinary attraction he can't get in his chosen exile country |
