This was a UK Dyxum meeting but with a slight 'International' flavour - Very kindly organised and arranged by bonneville (you were good at this!) we also had in attendance pegell; Bob J; Howard S and Miranda F as well as my good self. Thought I would be 'first off the block' with a suitable image - more to come from everyone I hope!

This was a first-time meetup for me, and it was great to put faces to familiar names on the board. I arrived too late to enjoy the Natural History Museum, but we moved on to the V&A and to the Science museum for more photo opportunities.

Lots of arcane Sony menu chat too!

Some photos to start the ball rolling:

Plus I have added one to the 'Photographers: The way we look' thread here.

Thanks again to Brian and Bob for pulling it together and being such welcoming hosts.

Well, six of us turned up for the London Dyxum Meet, though we lost a few toward the end when BobJ, Pegelli and I hung around for a meal and some night shots. In the photo below, I'm the one on the far left in the dark blue shirt. You can also see Bonneville, Howard, and Neil.

A58 + Sigma 10-20mm on the very secure Cullman mini-tripod:

We visited the Natural History Museum, the Science museum, and the V&A as well as a long walk through some of London's parks. I took over three hundred pictures on my A58 (Relax - I'm not going to post them all ) but while we're on the subject of people, are some more. I'll post some pics from the museums later.

A58 + DT 50mm f1.8 @ f2.8, ISO 800 fixed indoors for the amazing Epstein bust of Einstein.

A58+ 18-250mm at the useful full stretch

Not an obvious portrait lens, but the 18-250mm does a good job here at 55mm, f5. No eye-AF on this camera, but the eyelashes are sharp on the full-size image.

And the A58 made a good exposure choice without any particular help form me (A mode, multi-segment, DRO auto, no flash) BTW, all shots are jpegs straight out of camera, cropped a little.

Anyway, we all had a lovely time and as this was my first Dyxum meet, it was great to be able to put faces to some names!

Miranda F & Sensorex, Sony A7Rii, A58, Nex-6, Dynax 4, 5, 60, 500si/600si/700si/800si, various Sony & Minolta lenses, several Tamrons, lots of MF primes and *far* too many old film cameras ...

Hmmm... And here was me starting another specific link here to capture the images? I'll leave it to the Admins to think about where the best location/thread is for a set of themed images..

Some nice images to start with though - and unfortunately I seem to be on a few of them!

Best regards, Neil.

It's okay, Howard - let's let 'the powers that be' decide on this one!

I seem to recall that previously we had dedicated threads for the day's activities rather than place them in the pre-meeting discussion thread (think they may get lost in the mists of time otherwise...).

Best regards, and glad to see you got back okay!

Neil.

Great day thank you, and really good to meet Neil, Anthony, Pieter and Bob and Howard again. Sorry I had to depart earlier than I would have liked due to the pressures of travel and dog sitters. Nevertheless, thoroughly enjoyable, great company and did I fix good weather or what?!

Processing my snaps today and tomorrow and, as Bob and Pieter are doing Brands today, there is bound to be a bit of delay before their masterpieces go public so I'll hang on for the dedicated photo thread when I should have a couple worthy of posting.

You do know that qualifies you for organising the next one, don't you...?

Thanks for 'herding us into shape' over the last few weeks and I look forward to seeing you and the others again soon!

Best regards, Neil.

Thanks for the company gentlemen, I had a wonderful day in London and again met three more members I had not met before. It's always good to put names to faces and meet people in real life, makes the forum just so much more "personal".

More pictures will come as I have time to sort and PP, but here's the "making of" the group shot

Anthony setting it up on a small but sturdy tripod

A7ii + LA-EA4 + Min 16/2.8 FE (cropped and de-fished)

Bob, also thanks for the lodging and another wonderful day visiting Brands Hatch and Greenwich. We indeed walked a lot, but it was certainly worth it.
You can see the April Foolishness 2023 exhibition here Another great show of the talent we have on Dyxum

Well, its really good to see this thread starting to grow. I'm looking forward to seeing the posts to come.

In the meantime, to hopefully encourage others to join in next time, here are the Dyxummers at work photos we all like to snap:

1. The March of the Green Eyes

2. How many Dyxumers in this photo? (The rest are old fossils )

3. Administrator at work:

4. Another Administrator at it:

All taken with Sony a7ii and either SamYang AF 35mm f2.8 or Sony 24-70 f4

My version of that same setup...

b1

a7ii * Sigma 19 * f2.8 * 1/3200 * ISO 100

(taken with the little APS-C Sigma 19 with the rear baffle removed - I've processed these with the black corners showing, but they look like they should crop down at the long ends reasonably well..)

And now, adding a bit more of a linear-time thingie to my contribution...

b2 In the underpass from the tube station...

a7ii * Vivitar S1 28 * f/1.9 * 1/60 * ISO 250

b3 The gang is almost all here - (Still waiting on Howard) - Pieter, Neil, Brian and Anthony...

a711 * Zenitar 16 * f/5.6 * 1/500 * ISO 100

b4 One of many stairs in the Natural History Museum

a7ii * Zenitar 16 * f5.6 * 1/60 * ISO 640

b5 Yet another stair...

a7ii * Zenitar 16 * f5.6 * 1/60 * ISO 640

b6 A view of the hall

a7ii * Zenitar 16 * f5.6 * 1/60 * ISO 640

b7 Brian shooting the ceiling

a7ii * Zenitar 16 * f5.6 * 1/60 * ISO 640

b8 Escher-esque

a7ii * Vivitar S1 28 * f/8.0 (from memory) * 1/60 * ISO 400

You guys put me to shame... Mind you, other than Anthony (who, I think, is/was on holiday) you're all retired!!!

Not that I'm envious. No, not a bit of it....

Looking to post images later on (when I have time..)

Keep up the great posting though - and only a couple of me so far!
