Up to now everybody who is interested and reacted is able to join Sunday Februari 23 and Sunday March 8

How about the following:

Base plan Februari 23, starting in Maassluis and moving to Hoek van Holland during the day depending on weather and energy level.

If the weather forecast for Feb 23 starts looking very bad we postpone for 2 weeks and keep March 8 as the back-up plan to do the same in case Februari 23 doesn't work out.

In case that's good for everybody I'll start a dedicated thread for this meeting early next week, and silence is concurrance

Here's the dedicated thread for this meeting.

Time and place to meet can be decided later.

OK, how about we meet between 10:30 and 11:00 in Café De Moriaan, Haven 29: Google Maps. It's open on Sunday as of 10:00. Or Leo, do you know a better place there that is open sunday morning?

Parking in Maassluis is free and there is a larger parking lot about 5 min. walk from De Moriaan: Anne De Vriesstraat, but probably plenty other possibilities on sunday morning.

Ivo, if you want we can car pool like we did for the Haarlem meeting last year, it's about 1,5 hours (incl. 5 min walk in Maassluis). Let me know what you think about that

Next step will be planning what equipment to take, It's the last day of week 8, so nifty-fifties (or other lenses from 48 to 54 mm) are needed as a minimum. All the rest is optional

EDIT: Change of plans due to the weather:

So how about we change meeting to see each other between 10:30 and 11:00 at:

Doppio Espresso, Wytemaweg 72, 3015 CN Rotterdam, Nederland. It's close to the Chabot Museum and Parking Museumpark. It opens sunday at 10:00 which is OK for us.

Pieter,

It's a great idea to redo the car-pooling from Haarlem and of course we'll arrange something to share the costs.

I never visit cafés or such when I'm in Maassluis, it's all photography and no play for me. Moriaan sounds good and is central for exploring the wonders of Maassluis. As you probably know, Maassluis is an orthodox protestant place, on Sunday it's mainly churches that are open, but not for photography.

Thanks Leo, and if there's not enough to see to spend a whole day in Maassluis we can always decide to "go west" and visit Hoek van Holland later in the day (weather permitting).

The Van Nelle fabriek is another possibility. Has been on my to-do list for a long time. Guided tours on Sundays.

That's a good idea, would also be a nice insurance against bad weather. But we have to be quick, only 17 spots available at 14:00 (English tour) and 12 at 15:00 (Dutch tour) and it's 15 € entry so we need commitment soon from all attendees to buy the tickets.

Have you heard from people who took the tour to see if the pace is slow enough for some photography?

Let's see what the other participants say before we decide.

If it doesn't work out the 23rd I wouldn't mind setting up a specific meeting for just visiting this factory with a smaller group.

Yes the pace is quite relaxed, photography-friendly.
That €15 is including the Chabot museum and the shuttle bus to the factory, neither of which is on our agenda so maybe the entrance fee to just the facory is lower. I'll check.

I grew up with this place as I spent the first 12 years of my life living in Spangen. I can vividly remember the smell of coffee roasting. I have always wondered what it looks like inside....

It's a good idea to add something when the weather turns out less optimal.

I checked. Unfortunately, there's only the €15 ticket. There's still room for 12 people on the 15:00 tour.
