In late August on a break in Cornwall, Bigsi and I arranged to meet up for an evening of sunset and star photography.

No group shot, but here's a couple of BTS shots of Simon at work - possibly working on his fantastic potw shot here

Was a really great evening, wonderful light and some stunning clouds too. We were also blessed with clear skies for some star shots too. So here's my favourites of the evening

1. Rocks of gold

2. Trevose lighthouse over stinking cove

3. Trevose Lighthouse over stinking cove 2

4. Dusk

5. Swell

6. Star trails

7. Milkyway over Dinas Head

Wow! That's a gorgeous set, Simon - outstanding images!

My personal favorites are #1 - wonderful light, great mood - and #4: the light is very different, but special and the long exposure conveys a serene feeling.

Great set, and interesting to put last week's POTW in context.
My favourites are especially #4 and also #7.

Very nice Si, we were indeed very lucky with the weather, the "clear outside" app was accurate to within 30 mins, highly recommended.

Your wider few milimeters made a lot of difference in the look of your shots, I can feel an attack of GAS coming on The colours you captured look great, #5 the pick of the bunch for me from a great set!

My star shots are not in the same league as yours, I'm still processing them and I'll put them up later, getting low to the drive was a great idea adds a nice bit of depth, and that milky way over Newquay is probably my favourite of all your shots for me.

Looking at your pics of me I think I need a bigger tripod and my arse looks enormous in the second...

Just in case you haven't seen enough of the lighthouse...

Great images Simon, love the second one especially. For thr first I wonder if you can rescue some of the shadow detail in the rocks on the left - I had the same issue with them coming through almost black, though probably pushed it too far thr other way!

Beautiful images, you both made good use of the light and those lovely clouds. Stinking cove looks a lot nicer than its name.

Thanks for the comments Harm, Alan and Jack, I love my lighthouses and can only imagine where Stinking cove got its name from!

A bit of an experiment, I tried for a sunstar on the lighthouse but had to ramp up the iso to 10000 to get a useable shutterspeed on my 21mm for f/8

Thanks Simon, good idea about raising the shadows but my pc seems to be suffering extreme lethargy for some reason, it took me an hour to process that last shot. I will take a look when I sort that out
