First of all Thank you very much Jack (LECHER) for pushing for this get-together. It was wonderful. Jack and I met at the Parker River NWR Parking lot at about 5:45 am. I'll post some of my photos later but just wanted to get this thread going by posting photos of Jack, Bert (bharnois) and Dan (kefkafloyd)...
Here is Jack during our early morning shoot at Newburyport: And here is the group later that morning: EDIT - That's Bert, Jack and Dan from your Left to Right - in the first photo. I'll post photos from our shoot soon... Last but not least - It was pleasure meeting you Jack, Bert and Dan. Hopefully we can do this more often and other NE folks can join us too. Cheers, Rajan Edited by maxxum - 26 October 2008 at 15:27 |

NE Dyxum Meet - PART I
Jack and I had decided to meet at Newburyport, MA where I typically go birding. Parker River NWR is a wonderful place for year around birding. Jack and I met at the parking lot 1 in the NWR at about 5:45AM. It was still dark but that gave enough time to say hello and work out our next plan. We quickly decided to drive to the parking lot 7 to try our luck with the Sunrise... It was suppose to be a cloudy day so we were not too sure what to expect... But it turned out to be a wonderful morning. By the time had setup out tripods on the deck, colors started to change on the horizon... It turned out to be a splendid morning for photography. 1. Sunrise 2. I got to handle Jack's Sony 11-18 on my 700. I really liked this lens. Here is my test shot with this lens. Colors had started to fade away by now. Time was running out as we wanted to get to IHOP in Shrewsbury (about 70 miles) by 10am to meet other folks. We decided to head back without stopping a lot for bird photography... but we stopped at this place for some quick shooting... 3. Oldies Marketplace at Newburyport, MA I personally love this place a lot. Jack had to leave within 15 minutes to make sure he was at IHOP by 10:00am. I decided to stick around for some more time and join him little later. Here are a few from this place... 4. A rope 5. Rusty 6. Green Window More from this shoot can be found on my website under Elements of Design option in the gallery page. I'll update this with more details especially meeting and shooting Bert and Dan. Jack, Bert, Dan where are you guys... I am looking forward to see your photos as well. Cheers, Raj |

Hey guys, it was great to be there and meet Jack and Raj and Bert! Raj's 600mm is impressive.
I will hopefully have some images soon, I have not had any time at all this weekend to look at them. :( |

So here is the PART II of our get together...
I joined Jack, Bert and Dan at IHOP at about 10:30am. After our breakfast and little more equipment gossip, we decided to head out for some shoot. Fortunately weather co-operated. Overcast weather was perfect for shooting late in the day. We headed to the Tower Hill Botanical Garden. Though the garden is not in bloom, there were plenty of opportunities to shoot... Here are a few from my side... 1. Hanging on... 2. Divided 3. Grass 4. The end of the season 5. Branching out Since the garden wasn't in the bloom, I tried some different stuff with the last few flowering plants... 6. Fireworks 7. Radiating... and That's it from me folks.. Please do leave your comments. Raj |

Looks to have been a productive day - I've moved the thread over to themed views (which is where the meet pictures generally go).

As the others have said it was great to meet up and do a little shooting. I think we spent as much time ogling each other's gear as we did taking shots. Stay away from Raj if you want to avoid 'lens envy' as the 600 is one impressive beast.
Photos coming shortly. |
