The Turner view is still there - fewer dons in academic regalia and lots more buses, though with a bit of luck and patience you can capture the essence of the view without too much of the modern distractions.

Oxford also has connections to photohistory, including William Henry Fox Talbot - the first photo in The Pencil of Light is 'Part of Queen's College' (see https://talbot.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/search/image/view/?image_id=3ff1a795-0ae3-4291-9c77-5a555583a5ca) and is on The High - and Henry Taunt, who created a huge archive of photographs from his commercial work. He died one hundred years ago in November.

I like this from the Wikipedia page on him:

Taunt died in 1922, six months after he turned 80. He left his entire estate to Fanny Miles, who with her sister Polly remained at Rivera for some years thereafter. Taunt's estate included at least 53,000 photographic glass negatives. But the house was bought by a local builder, Frank Organ, and the glass negatives started to be either stripped for use as greenhouse glass or else smashed. A local historian alerted the Oxford City librarian, who in 1924–25 bought several thousand of Taunt's negatives and some of his prints, papers and manuscripts, for £98 10s.

A lesson to us all - make sure you keep backups!
