Had a great day today with Godsakes, Saratoga and his friend Matthew, dilettante, IanMiddy, aj_h, alanfrombangor and his son.

We wandered around York, shooting and talking, and stopping at an Italian restaurant and a bar along the way.

To kick off here are some photos of dyxumers. The group shot is in the hands (or camera!) of aj_h.

"Reservoir Dyxumers" (Godsakes, Saratoga and dilettante with aj_h in the background)

Dilettante takes aim.

aj_h follows suit.

Saratoga in the bar.

IanMiddy demonstrates why you should never pull a face when there's a camera pointed at you.

Sadly I didn't get any shots of Alan this time... "Location" shots to follow later...

Well, I had to provide the opportunity of continuing to have ridiculous shots of me posted !

...unfortunately, most of my personality shots are rather boring & conventional...

[oh - really nice, crisp shot - despite the subject! - not sure my MinO 50/1,4 would do as well or nail the focus]

To be fair I often miss focus with the sony 50/1.4 when it's near to wide open, but unluckily for you I nailed it one-handed this time! (I was demonstrating my wireless remote)

Good to see a nice mix of people - very jealous that I couldn't be there; I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures of York...

dilettante - I'm glad that you've set the rest of the team a high standard to follow. York is a lovely place to visit. I look forward to seeing this thread develop over the next few days.

BTW - your B&W conversions are excellent.

Thanks to YFU again for organising the day out. I'm still working on my shots but I've done the HDRs first... The links are for the 1024x sized images.

The movement on the river was small floating things. The colour balance is a little bit different due to the saturation of the orange light. Also the reason we didn't 'do' the train station either.

Looks like a great day all around. Please Sirs, may we have some more?

Nice ones, Ant. I'm starting to see the attraction of HDR, particularly with the museum gardens and the riverside shots. Gothic Towers looks like it ought to have Saruman the wizard in residence at the top.

Some really nice shots posted so far. I love dilettante's architectural abstracts and Ant's "Gothic Towers" in particular.

Here are my non-dyxum shots from the day. In the first part of the day I stuck to my Tam 90 as-per one prime rules.

"Through the Ruined Window"

"Half Timbered"

"Old Fashioned"

"Treasurer's Door"

"Autumn Chat" (My Oktoberfest shot of the day)

After dinner I decided that my one prime month was at an end, and started to use my other lenses again.

"Clifford's Tower"

"Foss View"

"Bridge on the River Foss"

"Minster by Night" (Using Ian's Sigma 10-20)

"From the Walls"
