Dyxum Goes East!

This thread is to show some of the pictures taken during our expedition to Southern Poland.

Our participants were:

From left to right:
Bartek (aka Sheepdog; Mikre's oldest), Bob (Bob J), Marcel (Mr @Jetsplace), Hanna (Mrs Mikre), Tim (TigerTimb; sitting), Leo (Darosa; standing behind), Jet (@Jetsplace), Pieter (Pegelli; standing behind), Domien (Dopol, sitting), Mikre Me, and last but not least - Mikre Marta. Those white things are newest alpha cameras we've got for testing purposes (kudos to Marta) - I'm sure you will see some photos from them

Our thanks to Mirek, Hanna, Bartek and Marta for their hospitality.

I hope we will eventually be able to post up the group photo in this first post, but Domien will be travelling back westwards as I type...

EDITED by MiPr:

On the first day, after we picked Bob and Tim from the airport we went for an excursion to Srebrna Góra to visit Prussian fort located on the pass which leads from Ząbkowice Śląskie to Nowa Ruda. This pass "cuts" mountains into two chains: Góry Sowie (Owl Mountains; north of the pass) and Góry Srebrne (Silver Mountains; south of the pass).

The fort welcomed us with ... clouds, giving us quite uique opportunity to take some atmospheric shots.

From the fort we went to Ząbkowice Śląskie (formerly known as Frankenstein; it is believed that the "undertakers felony" which happend in this town might have given Mary Shelley an impulse to write her book) where we visited the leaning tower and took short walk around the town. Unfortunately Dr. Frankenstein's Laboratory was closed so we decided to go to Kamieniec Ząbkowicki to see the palace of Princess Marianne of the Netherlands.

Will try and catch up soon - back home now, 77Gb copied so far, 30Gb to go!

Bob; did you visit a fort? or a tunnel?
A great series:
#1 does raise a big smile and I particularly like #3 with the: 'toggers confused by mist'

And I see the standoff of the nuclear deterrent has failed already and battle has commenced

An effective revenge Mirek even if you've widened the conflict
I love Bob's expression in the first one, and Indiana is excellent (to be joined by Chuck later)
Tim
If you appreciate comments on your photos, how about returning the favour to others . . .

A word of explanation maybe: this is the weather we encountered on the pass where the Fort is located:

Bob and Marta going up to the fort

Strictly speaking these were clouds (when we moved back to "lowlands" the fog disappeared) which is really unusual at such heights.

Nice to get some (albeit vague ...) impression of the trip you made while we were driving to Wroclaw. I hope to post some first shots tomorrow

Hee, hee, it was sometimes harder than usual when we took a short-cut:
