Day fourth of our DM quest: this time the "pack" decided to redo (to some extent) what we missed on the previous day. The weather was great - sunny but not too hot - and this was visible on streeets: really crowded with people enjoying the long weekend

So we started with the Cathedral again, but this time we had plenty of time to see (and photograph) all details: we got on top of north cathedral tower to see panorama of Wrocław (well, it was still misty, so not great for landscapes) and then it turned out that we can visit baroque chapels located at the back of the church. Well, this was the first time I visited them and believe me: they are really worth visiting.

The next step was to get some coffee and cake in a nice cafe (formerly there was a post office on Ostrów Tumski AFAIR) and after that we walked across river islands (Młyńska, Słodowa) and University Bridge to the main building of Wrocław University. This time the University Museum was opened and again it was really nice to walk across Oratorium Marianum (where slightly panicked service staff warned us that professional photography requires permission from the chancellor or University ), Aula Leopoldina, Mathematical Tower, Longchamps Hall, Caesarean Stairs.

Eventually we went for a walk towards the square where we hunted for gnomes (a bit) and then got stabilized in some pub. The evening ended in an Italian restaurant and then - a walk back to the hotel (again across river islands but this time with nice evening shots on the way).

Here's some shots from the (2nd) visit to the Cathedral, when we went all the way to the top of the tower.

1: Looking up it looks high and impressive:

2: Looking approx. east:

3: Looking approx. north

4: Looking approx. west

All A850 + guess the lens

The view south was blocked by the....yes you guessed, the south tower

Great 180 degree shots - #4 looks the best.

Lens : Minolta 16 f/2.8 fisheye . This is such a great lens on FF - even on flowers.

#1 gives a great feeling of the height of the church, where it just seems to reach into the clouds, and then a great series from the top of the tower Pieter.
Excellent clarity and I like the globe feel of these and Wroclaw seeming to cover the whole planet.
The sort of images where I can imagine the bigger versions let your eye get lost roaming over all the details

Pieter, in fact there are two islands visible: the one with this nice bridge is Wyspa Słodowa (in English that would be Malt Island) whereas the one on the right (with the white building with the grey roof) is called Tamka.

Arrghh.... It's that cathedral tower!!!

Good to see you all survived the climb (not sure I would be brave enough to do it now mind you) and 'the cage' looks so familiar! Great views (even if it wasn't crystal clear) and shows off the lens potential very nicely (must add to a growing list for the A99...). Loved the Gnome tryptich - nicely put together as a little storyboard like this - and a great balance of building shots as well.

I love the combination between B&W and colour you've all tried to produce in these series - I think Wroclaw has a great sympathy for this combination!

Hope to see more and I will try and get some comments in on the other days postings as well.

Best regards, Neil.
My Mantra: "Comment on other's work as you would wish to have yours commented upon". Go on - it's fun!

Pieter that ceiling of the Aula Leopoldina is on fire! Remarkably intense colour.
Lovely shots and some great captions.

This A99 thing is ruining my plan to stay ahead of you all ...
