CONGRATS Joe! very happy for you! what a performance, impressive indeed!
(love extended families, including -pretty!- grand-dogs! sounds both funny and very loving).
is it a heavy lens? does it make your camera tilt? how do you like using a smaller camera?
(asking just to be prepared... pres. not in a hurry ...yet? ;)).

looking forward to see many more perfect pics from this combi!

Ine,
The lens is certainly not light at 2410 gm but I found it well balanced and quite easy to use hand held for the 20 minutes or so I used it this first time.
I had it on a Sunsniper sling strap fastened to the tripod mount, so it hung horizontal against my body and was easily steadied by hand when not shooting.
The camera was really a small attachment on one end. But when I brought it to my eye to track, compose and shoot, with the weight carried by my left hand under the tripod mount, everything felt natural and easy, and the results speak for themselves.
Lots of new things to get used to, but I'm thrilled with this initial experience.

Thanks too, Addy, Dirk and Hans for your comments and feedback.

I'll happily post more about the camera and lens in the proper threads after getting to know them better.

The best method I've found is to not have any money....

Great photos with that kit! I have the a7iii (acquired this summer) and keep contemplating the a7iv in the nearish future (aka when I've paid this camera up and can save a little bit more money for the difference between selling it and buying the a7iv). The animal eye AF on the a7iii is decent but from what I've seen it's killer on the a7iv!

Congratulations on the new toy Joe
Great results in your first round
Particularly like the kangaroo imitation in #2
But the real proof is #3 with focus on the eye and not on the frisbee
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken

Thanks all, for your replies and comments, and sorry for any GAS attacks that have been triggered.
As I said in the preamble to my post, it was my own GAS that had been set off by some amazing birds in flight photos taken with latest Sony gear.
I will post my thoughts in the Camera Talk Thread on the a7iv after using it a bit longer, but at first glance it's got so much going for it, incorporating some up to the minute tech trickled down from the a1, a9, aR and aS lines, all at very good value for money.
So although I can enjoy the kudos, a lot of the results deserve to to credited to Sony's algorithms and technology.
