Pieter, sorry for your loss.
As dog lover Ricky Gervais says "Having a dog is 15 years of joy followed by terrible sadness".
Here's an excerpt of his interview where he states his intense love for dogs, worth seeing if you've not already seen or heard it I absolutely love dogs
Hope you'll be comforted by lots of happy memories.

Oh Pieter, how sorry my wife and I are to read this very sad news. Dogs are truly wonderful creatures in so many ways with only one fault, they don’t live long enough. Take some comfort when you look at the many images of Lexie you must have as they bring back memories of happy days.

One of the best signature strap lines I have ever read said, “I wish I was half as good as my dog thinks I am”.

So sorry Pieter, I'm still mourning our retriever Freddy after nearly 2 years but, as Brian says, we've always got our pics !
Happy memories
