Dear Dyxumers,

The selection process was a bit more troublesome than usual but eventually it has been finished today giving us 31 photos: each admin/mod/alpha eye had the right to nominate photos of his/her choice, photos which earned 4 or more nominations became finalists (please see below).

As for the voting - when we have more than usual candidates we go for 5-3-1 voting scheme, i.e. you can award up to three photos by assigining 5 points to the one you like the best, 3 points to your second choice, and 1 point the hird one. You cannot sum points and assign it to one photo, i.e. the only thing you can do is to assign either 5 or 3 or 1 point.

To cast the vote it is enough to give the photo number and the number of points. Strictly speking the voting format is following:

   #photo_num: points

Please remember to put each vote on a separate line.

Example:

   #1: 3
   #31: 5
   #5: 1

Please let me reiterate this - I'm expecting to see "# followed by a photo number followed by a colon followed by a single space followed by points". I do not expect dashes instead of colon and neither I expect "pt" or "pts" added at the end. As simple as that

You can change your vote up to the time of closing the voting. You can either edit your original post (preferred way) or cast the vote for the second time - only the last voting post will be taken into account.

Please note that voting for your own pic is not allowed.

To resolve situations where there are two winning entries with equal number of votes the one with greater number of 5-point votes will be selected as a winner. If it happens that both photos have exactly the same number of 5-point votes, the number of 3-point votes will decide. But if it somehow happens that the distribution of votes is identical the decision will be made by a commitee consisting of admins/mods/alpha eyes (preferably those not voting in the DPC in question).

Important: Only Dyxumers who joined our community before the DPC was closed (i.e. up to 2012-01-24) can vote. Votes of those who joined after that date will not be taken into account.

As usual the administrators also have the right to make one or more Honourable Mention awards.

The voting will close on 2012-02-26 CET.

And now please let me present all finalists of the DPC #144 "Best of 2011" in order of appearance in the candidates thread:

This is really tough - a superb set of masterful images and only 3 votes permitted.
