Dear Dyxumers,

Angels are all around us but usually are passed by unnoticed Just look around carefully and cpature them on your shot I mean - "angel" can have many meanings so use your interpretation and astonish us with your shot

For example:

Sweet Lil' "Angel"

KM5D + Minolta ?/?, f?, 1/?s, ISO?, EV?

Good luck,
MiPr

--------------------------------

When posting your entry please remember to:
  • give the photo its own, superb, unique title,
  • provide info about camera and lens used (in case of film cameras - info about film used),
  • provide "EXIF info": ISO speed, shutter speed, aperture, EV compensation, lens focal length (not mandatory in case of film cameras),
  • info about any special filters/converters.
Photos without this information will not be considered when selecting finalists.

--------------------------------

This DPC closes on April, 10th at around 21:00 CET.

--------------------------------

Please let me remind that the winner will be awarded with the Golden Dyxum Patch

which will be sent to him for free. It should be noted that this award was only possible because of Confusedapollo's hard work and commitment.

--------------------------------

General rules and intent
The main purpose of the Dyxum Photo Contest is to share our images in an effort to present ourselves as photographers. At the same time we hope that we will share our comments and experiences with each other so each of us can benefit and improve our photographic skills.

DPC is opened twice a month and all registered users are invited to participate. Each DPC is opened for approximately one month. After DPC is closed a commitee consisting of moderators/administrators and some invited Dyxum members will select a list of 8 finalists (more or less). After that a new thread is opened presenting all finalists and asking Dyxmers to vote. This voting is also opened for one month, after which all votes are counted and a winner is announced (separate "DPC winner" thread is started).

Specific rules:
  • Only registered members of Dyxum.com can participate,
  • The pics must be taken with an A-Mount cameras (either film or digital),
  • Photos that have been winners or finalists in previous DPCs (or shots that are similar) are not eligible. Generally we encourage all participants to take shots specifically for the DPC instead of taking old shots from their repositories,
  • Only two entries per competition per member are accepted. Entries can be changed freely up to the closing time. If there will be more than two photos from a given Dyxumer the last two will be accepted as his/her entries
  • Each entry must be given a title (it is a must-have for voting purposes),
  • Images containing nudity, violence or and any kind of provocative subjects are not allowed,
  • Photos should be in an easy viewable size (many users are on 1280x1024 or even 1024x768 screens). Photos should be no more than 900x600 pixels and we recommend using 700~800 pixels (the longer side),
  • No extra textures or objects have to be added that were not present during the shooting of the image. Generally: stress is on photography not on post-processing, although we accept some slight modifications like e.g. added vignetting.
  • Please state settings which the photo was taken with (ISO speed, shutter speed, aperture, EV compensation, focal length, and maybe a body and the lens used as well as any special filters/converters),

    Posting images
Unfortunately Dyxum doesn't have sufficient web space to host images for the contest. Because of this each participant needs another hosting site for his/her images and to post them by entering the image URL in the post (surrounded by the appropriate tags). However if any Dyxumer would like to post to this competition anonymously or has no photo-hosting set up yet, he or she can email images as attachments, along with a suitable title to dyxum.dpc@googlemail.com (please send also a PM as gmail may treat the mail as spam). Please note that images bigger than 800 pixels (th elonger side) will be resized without any further post-processing. Please note also that we are using free email and third-party photo-hosting services for this and so can offer no guarantees this process, but the services we are using seem quite reliable. If you have any issues over postings not showing up a reasonable amount of time after mailing them to the account, please PM a relevant admin/moderator.

    Copyright
The photos entered remain copyrighted by the original photographer, and by entering you are giving permission for the pic/s to be used on this site only. The winning shot may be used on the front page of the Dyxum.com website and in the DPC Hall of Fame. You will be contacted about any proposed subsequent promotional use on this site of your pic/s.

Should you have any doubts or questions regarding the contest please do not hesitate to contact a member of the admin or moderator groups

I'll always be your guardian angel

    Date Taken: 2012-03-17 02:42 am
    Camera: DSLR-A200
    Lens: Minolta 135/2.8
    Mode: Aperture priority
    Aperture: f/7.1
    Exposure Time: 1/125"
    ISO: 200

Originally shot with flash, I used
this tutorial by MiPr to get rid of the harsh light and make it look more angelic (read this as "more like how I saw it at 3am after one too many bottles of beer").
