“My Home Town” is the topic for the next DPC.

And we will probably have to put you on an “honesty bond” for your entries since many of you have not provided full hometown details in your profiles.

We are looking for shots of scenic features, buildings, cityscapes, shops and shopping, street festivals, cafe life, aspects of living in the city… and so on. And we will speak up if we feel that anyone is getting off-topic. Entries previously submitted in "Landscapes" can be re-entered provided they meet the "home town" criteria.

Of course you can have two "home" towns -- the one where you now live and work as well as the one where you were born.

We also hope to get the winners of the previous DPCs to select the finalists. More details to come on that.

In the meantime here are the “ground rules”.

The pics must be taken with a Dynax 7D or 5D, but any lens will be OK.
Only two entries per competition per member will be accepted. You can change your entries at any time up until closing time.
Please post your images at an easily viewable size.

Eligibility
You must be a registered member of Dyxum.com to enter. The administrators of Dyxum.com are not eligible but may provide “guideline” theme pics for the start of a competition.

Details
Each photo must be given a name, for voting purposes. Please include relevant EXIF info for exposure and ISO, as well as the lens type and filters/converters used. For heavily processed shots an indication of the work done would be appreciated.

Competition format
The finalists from the shots entered will be listed for all members to vote on – a maximum of three points for any one shot, and one point for one of the others you like. The voting period for this competition will be at least one week from the announcement of the finalists.

Photo size and linking
At this time we don't have sufficient web space to host your images. For that reason, you will need another hosting site for your images and to post them by entering the image URL in the post (with a the help of the dedicated button)
We recommend to keep image size to no more than 800px so users with smaller monitors will be able to see them without vertical scrolling.

Copyright
The photos entered remain copyrighted by the original photographer, and by entering you are giving permission for the pic/s to be used on this site only. The winning shot may be used for a time on the front page of the Dyxum.com website. You will be contacted about any proposed subsequent promotional use on this site of your pic/s.

Suggestions for next DPC
Please include a suggestion for the next DPC with your entry.

General rules and intent
The main purpose of DPC is to share our images in an effort to present ourselves as photographers. At the same time I hope that we will share our comments and experiences with each other so each of us can benefit and improve our photographic skills.
- approximately once a fortnight we will open a new topic and all registered users are invited to participate. Once a topic is closed and replaced with the new one the administrators at Dyxum will select the best images and open a voting period.
- voting remains open as long the next topic remains open. The winning image is the one with the best voting score and it will be moved to a DPC winners dedicated thread.
- images containing nudity, violence or and any kind of provocative subjects are not allowed.

It is anticipated that the contest will close on November 14

Sorry :) Moskow - is not my Hometown. I'm just studied here.

There are some pictures from Sebastopol, where I was born. I think they reproduce the "spirit of the city" very well.:

Mermaid :)

"Support your local charity"

All was shooted with KM Dynax 7D and Minolta 28-100

There can be some wrong colours on my pictures, because of my uncalibrated TFT monitor.

Anthony, thank you for your kind words.
Yes Croatia is considered as a very beauty country.
You have submitted excellent images as well.

May I ask you to remove one of the 3 images submitted? Unfortunately only 2 images are allowed in the contest forum.

Thank you for sharing these and happy shooting

How about you move to the big house on the island, set up a grandad flat, and I will come and live there (rent free of course, but you get to borrow my 85, 100 f2 and 70-200 SSM). Keep the city pad as well. It all looks idyllic.

I have intended to propose you the exact offer, but i was a bit intimidated. Now when you have asked ... :):)
Well, folks, I must be honest. I work for our local Tourist association (maintaining the network, shooting various events and even the airplane for those images was on their account). Since I do a lot of propaganda here, i will ask for some additional salary :)
