Is "Sepia" colors OK for this round?

If you are seeking to enter one, have a look at some of the other pics earlier in this thread and you will see that they are not "postcard" sepia (ie with added granularity, and in the style of “Postcard from Mostar” by Samir), but more modern "monochromed".
I guess we should have spelled it out a bit more in the instructions, but since neither Kiklop, Frans, or I flagged anything when they were first posted, I feel we cannot "disqualify" them at this late stage.
I will make certain the selection panel knows that they should be considered along with other entries and not arbitrarily ruled out of order. But the panel may have their own thoughts as to how suitably they meet the original prescription.
I know that's what is called "a bob each way" - hope it keeps "the faith" with everyone.

my sweetheart :)

"Big Brown Eyes"

shot with dynax 5D, 50mm f1.7 lens.
exposure: 1/60sec, f2.5, iso800, aperture priority, no flash, whitebalance set to tungsten.

postprocessed with CS2 and convert to b&w pro with color response set to "ilford fp4" and modified the tonal response manually. also added a slight sepia tobacco tone.
finally cropped it and boosted the contrast a bit.

btw how do i remove the impression that she squints? she doesnt in real life but does on most pictures.
hm...and i also dont like the shadow in her left eye...hm.

It's truely amacing that so many great shots has entered this competition. Here is one of my very few b&w shots:
After the play

The shot is taken with KM5D, AF DT 18-70mm at 1/100s., f/5,6, iso100.

A little example for kanzlr:

Edited in 2 minutes in Paintshop Pro 9 while eating a pizza.
First duplicated the background layer, always safe.
Started a little fight with brightness, contrast, histogram to keep her eyelids and iris as dark as possible while bleaching up the white in the corners of her eyes. This obviously would ruin the rest of the picture but by selecting just these parts, copying them into the background layer, then removing the temporary layer it looks more or less okay now. A little more editing could remove the last tell tale signs of the editing.
The corners of her eyes are hidden so deep, blocking a lot of light with her eyes, eyebrows, lashes, nose and cheeks that the only way to get a good single shot portrait of her would be to put some reflective material on her lap and two umbrella flashes near your shoulders.

Don't know why I'm bothering because the standard is so high right now, but here's my second.

'Say Aaaaaaaaah'

5D, Stock lens @ 70mm
F5.6 1/160s ISO160
PS: B&W plugin, USM and crop

I came into this late, added a toned shot as there were some there already but no biggy if it's a problem.

However, the disussion on the toning posts and some on a portrait show some hesitancy or concern about other post steps. My impression is that post is an acceptable part of the process to get to an image - that we were asked to discuss if a lot of post was used to explain it. In that sense, if more specialized lighting was used, that would be of interest as well, neither post nor other techniques being a disqualifying approach in my mind. Certainly, just making the image black and white is a significant post step - and the processes/results might change a lot depending on the steps used.

Maybe discussion of technique could follow the contest period?

It is fine just to change it. The selection process begins only after the comp ends.
