does anyone know whether there is an advantage of the EA4 over the 5 when using with my A7M3 for SSM & SAM lenses
I have the EA4 but I've got the EA5 on order at 1/2 price

BUT most of all with my Tamron 150-600 G2?

(I have the EA3 for other Sony A mount lenses like the CZ 16-80.)
Cheers

The LA-EA5 will give you many advantages over the 4 when using SSM & SAM lenses. To list but a few: use of all Phase and Contrast detect points, no SLT mirror, eye-focus, a likely increase in speed of focus and a smaller body which makes for better handling. The continued advantage for the EA4 is use with screw-drive AF lenses on the a7III. I have both, and will continue using both for the foreseeable future, although I'm definitely leaning towards the EA5.

What I cannot comment on is the particular use with the 150-600, but I've been testing my Tokina 11-16/2.8 on the a6600 and that's working remarkably well.

At half the price, the LA-EA5 is a no-brainer. But I doubt the LA-EA3 will be much different compared to the LA-EA5 - Does anybody have a comparison between the LA-EA3 and LA-EA5?

Anyway, like Bill said, the LA-EA5 opens up most of the AF options on your A7III.
