Good progress I'm able to decode the snooped data and it matches what was documented here so far.

Hey guys. Good news I've got the teensy listening to the devices. I'm going to move to a man in the middle approach proxying all but one message at a time. Then we can fuzz other bits of the protocol.

Nice progress!

This finally gives me more motivation to get off my ass and resume now that I'm not the only one.

BTW, the processing script I mentioned in my email (which should help fill in some of your gaps) is at:
https://github.com/Entropy512/emount_tools/blob/master/emount_plotdata.py

That is meant to parse stuff generated by:
https://github.com/Entropy512/libsigrokdecode/tree/emount

Those are probably the two most important things.

(still on vacation, more when I get home)

Here are some firmwares, decrypted by Leegong. Maybe useful to someone (I haven't seen Leegong for a while now).

https://bayfiles.com/7dhej0k3bc/Lens_firmwares_decrypted_zip

It's for these lenses:

Sigma C30F14 (Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC DN)
Sony SEL35F14Z (Sony Distagon T* Zeiss FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA)
Sony SEL2470Z (Sony Vario-Tessar T* FE 24-70 mm F4 ZA OSS)
Tamron A036 (Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD)

FYI my main interest right now is pinning down the initialization sequences. I'm working with a NEX7 and a manual focus lens right now so that I can inspect the minimal subset of the protocol. After that I'm going to crosscheck against the SEL5518Z as it's has minimal complications (no zoom no steadyshot etc)

Thanks for the firmwares too. I gotta admit my ARM assembly is pretty weak though

You should all have comment on the Google Docs if you want to suggest edits please do.

GREAT NEWS I can simulate a lens well enough to start the main messaging loop! I'll share the code soonish.

Now that is good news. If you'd said 'complete the main messaging loop', I'd have said very impressive!
Miranda F & Sensorex, Sony A7Rii, A58, Nex-6, Dynax 4, 5, 60, 500si/600si/700si/800si, various Sony & Minolta lenses, several Tamrons, lots of MF primes and *far* too many old film cameras ...

Bostwickenator, maybe creating a Hackaday project would attract more people to help? https://hackaday.io/projects
