Which lenses have you found work well for Infrared on modified or unmodified E-mount cameras?
Check here groovyone's post for A-mount lenses and cameras : Lenses and unmodified cameras for Infrared (IR)

Hi stavros78,
I think that best answer for your question is Lenses and unmodified cameras for Infrared (IR) topic. You will find in there a table with lenses that are good or bad for IR photography. If you post your results there, I think that Keith (groovyone) or someone from AMAE team will probably update the table with your results. |

How small is small?
Well, if it's bigger than 23x16mm, then it is huge! |

Sony 16mm F/2.8 produces hot-spot starting at about f/5.6, if I remember correctly.
Sony 18-55 F/3.5-5.6 did not show any hot spots in my pictures. Unfortunately, I can not re-test these lenses, as I do not have them any more. |

I have SEL10-18mm and had 18-55mm, never had any hotspot problems with either lens.
I have used FE35 and FE55 in passing and not noticed any particular issues. I will try these again when I have more time. |

SEL 18-55/3.5-5.6 can produce a hot spot @18mm; to circumvent - set lens to 20mm and it's gone.

I've found this post because I'm after the same information as Stavros78.
I've just had an A6000 converted to 590nm. So far I've only used the 16-70 f4 in testing over the past few days and I've noticed a mild hot spot when shooting from f8. The hotspot is more noticeable with an R72 filter on the lens. If anyone can recommend any good E mount lenses for 590nm and 720nm infrared then it would be a great help. No hotspot with 16-70 ? That's great.
You have the filter on the sensor or on lens ? In my nex6 with the filter on lens i have a huge hotspot from f4. |

Also after testing the SEL 18-55/3.5-5.6, i had the same results as Micholand only that i have to set lens to 22-23 to remove hotspot.

The A6000 has been permanently converted to 590nm. Perhaps that's the difference. It could be the filter on the lens causing the hot spot.
Taken with the 16-70 f4 at f16. ![]() Edited by gwevans - 06 September 2015 at 23:56 |

Nice shot gwevans !
I 'm using the same Hoya r72 in all lenses. ![]() I think maybe it's better with the filter on the sensor. |

Finally i put an 720nm filter, that i bought from image-laboratory, on the sensor of my nex-6 .
The results i get are the same with the hoya R72, only some less flaring, but now i dond't mess with screwing and unscrewing filters in front of the lenses. ![]() |
