Hi all,
I've read about the first black frame problem but I only was able to find topic regarding the 7D and 5D. Does sony recognize this problem as well as Minolta? Doeas anyone know the right mail where it's possible to ask any futher informations? Thank you. Ciao, MP |

In regard of Sony recognising the problem:
If you mean has Sony said the fault exists in their cameras too, I have never heard of it. Neither have I seen users complaining about a Sony model having this particular issue. If you mean Sony making the required repairs for Minolta cameras, yes, they have recognised the problem and they have made the needed repairs. |

If any of the cameras had the problem I would assume it would be the a100, since its very close mechanically to the minolta cameras...well what I have heard.
But yeah, you are the first, you might try contacting sony...but who knows if you will get someone on the other end of the phone that understands what you are trying to communicate. |

This is a known problem??? I've recently noticed this on my A230 as well. Sometimes, for no particular reason, the first shot I take is simply a blank... It doesn't happy often, but sometimes it does.

Yes, this a well known problem -- in the Konica Minolta 7D -- see here.
But I'm sorry to see the issue being raised with regard to Sony cameras. In the 7D it usually occurred after a longish period of non-use, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. KM recognised the issue with the 7D and provided a free fix. Let's hope Sony will do the same if this becomes an issue with their cameras. |

hmm, i kinda feel the same about my a100, it takes black frames every nowe and then and when it happens... boy it seems to go on for awhile. turning it off and on, taking the battery out, etc. all that seems to work for me is to let the camera sit idle for awhile. but my biggest problem with my a100 is the vertical color streaks i get every now and then... and honestly i seem to get both problems at the same time, the black frame issue and a vertical color streak problem. sony said it's not the same as the first frame black problem and so did precision camera. i was told most likely sensor going bad. so, i'll just wait till the camera gets worse and send it in for repair since its a flat rate of $250.
