Phase One have just announced a new camera as well; don't think it will trouble Sony (or Canikon for that matter) but the spec's do look rather impressive....
Best regards, Neil. |

That's quite some camera. You won't have much money left to buy a computer fast enough to handle those images though!

Very odd product photography of the camera on that link. The vast open space seems primed for ad/brochure copy that never arrived. The soft full lighting answers all mystery. Completely different than the spooky mysterious Nikon teaser campaign, and similar teaser campaign for the new Zeiss camera announcement.
Sorry, I can't resist the chance to photosophize a little here, seeing how product photography is part of my business. The Phase One campaign avoids the Nikon/Zeiss close up mystery, and instead creates a sense of want, and longing. It's real, right there on the table, with nothing standing in the way between you and the best... Which is displayed smaller than typical, perhaps to make it seems psychologically more affordable/approachable than it truly is. It's a "No big deal" style campaign. Maybe I'm completely off. But I'll be experimenting with this rather bland, but tasteful Phase One product photography approach. |

Maybe it's more business-centered than bland? Assuming that pro medium format photographers are most likely of all photo pros to earn their living from advertising shoots, they'll no doubt be best placed to see right through a campaign that would be more smoke than substance. At a ratio of $1000 per 3 Mpx, the business math had better add up for any prospective buyers needing subatomic resolution! ![]() |
