At my local lake yesterday a competition between swallows and tree martins to scoop up a floating feather. First a tree martin, three consecutive frames so 3/10 sec and how far it travels in that 3/10 sec. Lining up. ![]() 2. Mouth open for pick up. ![]() 3. And overshot. ![]() 4. Different angle of attack!! ![]() 5. A swallow has a go...Again 3/10 sec. ![]() 6. ![]() 7. And success. ![]() 8. And flies off with the prize... ![]() Not too happy with these, over sharpened, over cropped?? They looked OK at 4000 to 6000 pix before resizing. Just sorry the action wasn't closer. TFL. I see what you mean, but these are quite good anyway. How did you sharpen in between resizing? TFS Peter

An adventurous feather catch.
Sharpness overall seems ok. A bit oversharpened in 6. With the reflection and all, I like #4 best. What's the use of the feather? Nesting season seems over. ![]() |

It really seemed like it was just a game Domien, even when a bird would get the feather it would just fly up and drop it again. Mostly they would try and catch it in mid air but this proved more difficult to do and also more difficult for me to get!! As to the sharpening I haven't been happy for some time. Not sure whether it's me after eye surgery a year ago, a new BenQ 4k monitor six months ago, combining software or a combination of the above. These were done with basic DxO, my regular go to software, no extra fine tuning sharpening there but then put into Topaz sharpen AI which I'm trialing. Time consuming as you wait for sharpen, stabilize and focus to all update but it certainly works. All looks good at megapixel size on the new monitor but after a resize in Faststone image viewer I'm not happy... |
