Sorry guys but it looks like I'm going to have to jump ship. My ten year old granddaughter went to so much trouble to make this cake and was so proud that I didn't have the heart to correct her.....

Magnificent camera, Peter. Your grand-daughter has done you proud. And the brand-name can easily be corrected in post-processing....

That is so cute! What I'd like to know is, as your granddaughter, where did she even learn the name Nikon? You don't allow talk like that in your family circle, do you? Next thing you know, she'll want to try one.

Well I skipped the regular Monday morning 'weigh in' as half the cake has already gone and the rest will probably go with this mornings coffee!!
Kathi I really don't know where that word came from, although she's a dab hand in the kitchen I suspect her mother had some input and she's a Canon shooter so I was totally surprised.
Roger, good choice, the lens was partially licorice with a sponge interior was the first to go.
Michele, good one
I think I may have forgotten to mention the camera came with some great accessories, namely a very nice single malt and three assorted bars of dark chocolate which she told me was good for my heart

And to start the week with a chuckle, especially if it's cold and miserable as it is here....

Since I had a stent put in a few moths ago everyone seems to take an interest in grandads 'ticker' with appropriate jokes.....

She's trolling you, Peter. Look at the mischief in those eyes.

Seriously, that is really nice. Looks like an 85/1.4 too - no skimping with a 1.8.

Peter - that Dalwhinnie is definitely not good for your health; you should pop it in a stout container and send it over to someone closer to it's beginnings who can look after it so much more appropriately Unless, of course, you are taking it 'for medicinal purposes'?

Good to see the day went well and a licorice lens? I'd heard those Nikon 85/1.4's could be a bit sticky sometimes....

Take care and very best wishes, Neil.

You can have your cake and eat it too. Happy birthday! A picture is worth a thousand words - but this one is quite special. They don't stay young forever.

Thanks everyone, they certainly don't stay young forever. The older I get I notice how 'time' seems to speed up, I can remember her birth as if it were only a couple of years ago...
Definitely medicinal Neil. We head off into the wilds of outback NSW and Queensland shortly and I was told it was to help keep me warm around the campfire and those nights can be very cold, at least by our standards!
Finally an update on the camera. All gone and much appreciated....
