Went over to the Trotting track/showgrounds to let Bella (our pup) have a run.

1. Reeds at the swamp.

2.Plovers at the Swamp.

3.Lichen on tree.

4.Trotter/Pacer?

5.T or P closer.

l ducked home for a cuppa, and the Great Victorian bike riders were going past our back fence, they will ride 550ks, there can up to 5000 participants, we had them going past from about 7am to 1pm heading to Cape Bridgewater. So l popped out the back gate & said Good'ay - as you do, cheery lot they were.

6. Smiles

7. Ditto & waves.

8. Thumbs up.

9. No hands mum.

All taken with A700 & Min200mm f2.8, do yourself a favour if you don't have this lens grab one
Cheers

All nicely composed and exposed and good colours. It certainly looks like a very good lens.

The big question is did you get a good tips for the next trots meeting?

Really like #2, nice grafic silhouette. Maybe the "light strip" is a little dark and could be brightened a bit.

Lichen is nice, but the background a bit too busy, could you have opened the aperture more?

The bikers are a hoot, allthough the PP and colors on the last two seem a bit funny. Did you use a lot of "fill light" on them?

Pegelli, thank you for leaving the CC ( alpha eyes are still alive - little ditty ), no fill light as they were on the other side of the road, l don't know what happened but l will blame my PP skills from Raw to jpeg, l have over done it - trying to reduce the highlights i guess, the light was very mottled ie sun breaking through cloud cover.

I am now up 100% on my last open view posting, l don't think l will post here again just leave them in themed threads, quit while l'm ahead.

The bikers were fun in that they participated in the shooting.

Nice morning indeed!

#5 is my favourite, but I also like the expressions you've captured on the cyclists.

Beautiful light & good exposure on #1. Might have been a stronger image if there was more emphasis on the backlit flower on the right, but it breaks the pattern of the reeds quite nicely as it is. Good idea with the silhouettes in #2 but maybe the dark foreground & background dominate a little too much - perhaps a different crop? What Pegelli said regarding #3 & #8.

Nos 4, 5, 6 & 7 are all good shots that would benefit from a small Levels adjustment in PP just to darken the deepest shadows to black.

Just my opinions - hope you don't mind C&C from a newb like myself!

Bharnois, they were a very chatty lot, l was only out there for a few minutes.

Merv66, l appreciate your CC the more the merrier, as l am only a novice, l do overlighten my shots as on some peoples monitors my images can be a tad dark - mine isn't calibrated properly.

#5 was an attempt at improving my panning skills as the horse was going past fairly quickly.

l will repost the birds - cropped.

I like the bird shot even better this way, good extra PP !

Btw, too much highlight recovery can also do strange things to light colours, so that might be the case for the last two biker shots. Sometimes it's better to leave some of the highlights burned to not affect the main subject.
