I hope on your birthday you visited Huntley Meadows. It's close to home and it yields a lot of interesting bird subject matter. You should try visiting - treat yourself. There is a great boardwalk and observation tower.

The first thing that I did, after drinking a cup of coffee, was head to Huntley Meadows. It was a rather uninteresting day - there were few birds, so I ended up taking pictures of bulbs in twigs and leaves. Then a nice lady asked if I saw the merganser chicks. I said, the wood ducklings? No, she said, the merganser chicks. So I hurriedly walked towards that part of Huntley. A lot of ducklings, bathed in heavy backlight. It was interesting watching them, especially since one guy kept saying - hey, that duckling has a tadpole. Which was great, since it allowed me to focus on something that was actually going on, instead of just ducklings swimming around. People are helpful at Huntley, though I still worry about the guys gunning their cameras down when a subject barely moves. And then lunch with the family. It was a fine day after all. Thanks to all for the kind words and good wishes.
