Thanks all very much. This has been my "go to" place for photography for years, primarily because of the very friendly and courteous group of folks who frequent here. Thank you. 2020 was quite the down year in terms of my image-making, thus, not a lot of original posts last year but will hope to pick it up this year.

Swede66 - The puck might be just below his left cheek. Good positioning with nice stick discipline (lots of advanced goalies will lift the stick off the ice as they start their drop to the butterfly and or it is not centered in the five hole). Certainly hard to determine if the offensive player in your still shot was the shooter. If he was, the goalie looks to be squared on the puck, not on the player - again, something some goalies fail to do. If, a big if, the offensive player was the shooter and did not have anyone to pass to on his left, then I would have been more aggressive as the goalie and be out of the crease a bit more. I can talk like I know a lot about goal tending, then again, I certainly did not play like I knew a lot! I love the classic look of the defenseman - oops! I really miss playing; stopped about fifteen years ago. Last year I took an online photo class. One of the assignments was to take a self-portrait (mine is below). A couple of years ago I was going to donate all my goalie gear to the local rink. My wife suggested that I not do it, saying: "Don't, you will probably regret it because the day will come when you want to go back and attend a pick-up evening at the rink." Now 75, I think it is safe to donate the equipment (except the mask). On the other hand, U.S.A. hockey does have a seventy and older division!

I remember your self portrait, it's a really good one.
You found the puck, and it's #28 that was the shooter. The goalie is a finnish national team goalie, Janne Juvonen, and will unfortunately for us play in the KHL next year. He played 50 games this year and had the highest amount of shots on goal of all, SOGA 1363 with a SVS on 91,56. He was a big reason to our third place. By the way, #8 is an american, Matt Caito, defenseman a bit small but an excellent skater with a great first pass.

Anyway, I hope you had a great birthday and whatever you decide with your gear you should keep the mask, it looks great!
