Helsinki was founded June 12th 1550 and this date has been celebrated as Helsinki Day since 1959, although in the last couple years there obviously have been no big events due the pandemic. However, one of the events today was Helsinki Rescue Departments' jubilee parade to celebrate that this year marks 160 years from its foundation. In these times of pandemic the parade took in form of motor parade on a route all around the city that had length over 100 km.

Therefor I headed to suitable spot near my home that was along the route.

1. Few others were also waiting on the roadside

2. After some waiting (the parade was running little late at this stage) we finally first saw the police motorcycles

3. And then behind the police car were the rescue department vehicles

4. Fire chief's command car was in the lead

5. Next car had a pedal car from children's trafic park on top

6. Heavy lorry RHE7094 of oil spill prevention depot was carrying the oldest vehicle of the parade: 1929 Volvo fire engine

7. Another historical vehicle: Fargo fire engine from 1974

8. Bit more modern, but this Scania G82 former Käpylä Rescue Station is still 1982 vintage

9. Another retired fire engine

10. Retired ladder unit of Erottaja Rescue Station

11. Mobile command centre

12. Animal rescue unit

13. RHE40K2

14. RHE5099 tracked articulated, all-terrain transport "Nasu"

15. RHE306 platform unit

16. RHE7058 chemical rescue unit

17. RHE736 platform unit, Tammisalo volunteer fire brigade

18. RHE562 tanker unit, Tapanilan volunteer fire brigade

19. RHE245 pioneer unit, Lauttasaari volunteer fire brigade

20. RHE743 tanker unit, Laajasalo volunteer fire brigade

21. RHE6396 disaster prevention unit, Marjaniemi volunteer fire brigade

22. RHE503 tanker unit

23. And that was the last rescue vehicle followed by a police car and motorcycle

Thanks for looking, apologies for the large number of pictures, but I somehow wanted to show most of the vehicles participating. Shot with α7R III + Sony FE 4/24-105 G OSS and α7R IV + Tamron 70-180 mm F2.8.

Good documentary. There is some redundancy, strengthened by the fact all viewpoints are the same. Amazing the Scania in #8 is almost 40 years old! I like the tracks in #14 too. TFS Heikki .
