After two years a holiday abroad again, Italy this year.
We found a nice accommodation in Sernaglia della Battaglia. It’s located just between Venice and the Dolomites. It’s a quiet little village, still not (yet) very touristic. Other than the well-known places like Lago di Garda, where its crowded with countrymen, we only noticed maybe 15 Dutch cars at most in total during our two week stay, but also tourists from other nationalities were hardly spotted. This is ‘most likely about to change, since a few years ago, the area was qualified as world heritage for the prosecco production.
We had seen places like seen Venice and Verona already, so we spent our time just exploring the region with many picturesque villages, lovely landscapes with wineries, but also mountains of the Dolomites nearby.
Here is just a potpourri of pictures as short summary of my holiday, with the challenge for myself to limit it to max 5 pics per day in this thread .

Day 1 (in fact day 2 since we split the journey over two days)

#1 Late arrival after a longer then expected day, but rewarded with a nice view on the moon when we finally sat down in the garden of our accommodation.

Day 2 Quiet day to settle in after two days of travel

#2 Old building close to ‘home’

#3 Bad weather coming from behind the mountains

Day 3

#4 A little visitor in the garden

#5 Fighting the draught

#6 Evening walk, giving a misleading expression of the neighbourhood

Day 4 A first tour through the wine region

#7 Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta, Pieve di Soligo,

#8 A classic look through stair case

#9 Some wineries up the hills

#9 Finally some grapes

#10 And many nice old little castles

Day 5

#11 Little mushrooms in the lawn

#12 Lago di Santa Maria

#13 Minimalistic sunset

All with A7IV, except #13 (NEX5-N full spectrum converted)
To be continued…

A lovely set, Fred - I am drawn to the moonrise over the mountains. Great work all round.

Thanks all!

@onsplekkie: I noticed a few shots from the Dolomites from you indeed.
A beatitful area. Certainly more to come from later days , including a visit to Cortina d'Ampezzo where we went up by cable car to >3km height.

Lovely to see.
My Italian born wife likes to say you can put on a blindfold and stick a pin in a map of Italy, and anywhere it lands will be wonderful.
Hopefully things are not too badly affected by the harsh summer and the drought. I've read that Lago di Garda is quite low and under stress as a result.
Looking forward to seeing more of your daily images.

That's an admirable thread so far - I love its diversity of beautiful takes!

My absolute favorites are the B/Ws - #10 and #24 (very good you took your IR camera with you!) - and, top-ranked, #23: composition, the "framing" in particular, and the B/W conversion are perfect.

A great report on an Italian vacation!
I especially like #26 and #27 where the rain sets the mood and brings great light.
