The free version of Vuescan is there but after installation it will not detect the Minolta or the SCSI card.

Vuescan aditionally needs the correct SCSI-Driver to work properly with a Windows-7-Machine. Information can be found here https://www.colorperfect.com/Vuescan/Adaptec-SCSI-controller/AHA-2940-etc/driver-for-64-Bit-Windows-7-and-8/
I must admit, that I never used the Colorperfect-SW, but the free Demo: http://www.shareit.com/product.html?cart=1&productid=300175341¤cies=USD&oplayout=USA&backlink=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.colorperfect.com%2Fbuy.html%3Flang%3Den shoud be fully functional, and perhaps this gives you a workaround with your problem. Regards, Knut |

Win 7 64 bit will run an XP 32 bit emulator from MS. Don't know if that helps you, but I used to use that for a several old win-95 programs. Once you're in the emulator, you can install software directly into win XP as you would with 95, 98, 2000, etc. |

I found on an old CD 2 installation files called Minolta Dimage Dual 2.0.1 and Minolta Dimage Dual 2.0.1e. Anyone know the difference?

OK, I have finnaly got my Minolta Scan Dual working again. I gave up trying to get it to work under Win 7 (my C disc is a SSD disc and I was having problems trying to install Win XP parallel to it). A friend had an old Win XP computer but after the insertion of the SCSI card we had problems getting the computer to accept the Minolta drivers but after installing an old version of Vuescan this installed some drivers and everything worked fine. After the first scans we installed an old version of Photoshop and opened up the pictures there and they looked great considering we were scanning slides from 1968. It would have been nice to have the scanner working under Win 7 but as least I know the scanner works.

Old thread, I hope someone can help me
A long time ago, I got an old Minolta DImage Scan Elite 5400 II for basically free because it has problems. Both CDs were included, and I installed the DImage Scan Utility on an old PC, but I lost that CD during a move, so I only have the CD with the driver. Unfortunately the DImage utility and scanner software is not available anymore for download on the Minolta website (only the driver). Would anyone here be so kind to upload a copy to a Google drive/Onedrive (if you PM me, I'll provide a link)? And, yes, I know I can use VueScan, but I'd also like to get the original to see if I can make the scanner work on a different PC with the right driver and Windows version. Without disk, can't install it, though (Windows doesn't like when you move programs between installations) As for the problem, the scanner powers on, I can hear the internal mechanism move to the initial position, then the scanner is recognized by both VueScan and DImage scan. Upon launching the software, the scanner seems to perform a sort of self test, I can hear more internal whirring, I can see a few rapid pulses of light from the internal LED array, and immediately after the blue led on the front blink rapidly 6 times, a short pause, then 6 more times, and so on. Clearly "6 flashes" is an error code, but I could not find a way to interpret error codes online (I even managed to find a service manual, but it's pretty useless, mostly it's about replacing parts that have been upgraded by the manufacturer) Does anyone happen to know what 6 pulses of the LED mean? I know I have the right drivers (tried both the Minolta and VueScan ones), since the computer sends the right init sequence to the scanner, and if the scanner has an inserted slide carrier, I get the "door is open" error Thanks in advance, Rob |

Answering my own post: after way too much time spent on the scanner, I finally figured out what was wrong: a 7812 voltage regulator was dead, and the CCD had no power. Replacing the 7812 seems to solve all problem, luckily there doesn't seem to be lasting damage.
For what is worth, I'm pretty sure that 6 fast flashes / pulses / blinks of the front LED on a Minolta DImage Scan Elite 5400 II mean that the firmware found a CCD imager issue during self test (that explains why it happens right after the LED is pulsed) Adding here for posterity, just in case anyone else happens to search for the same problem in the future I'm still looking for the original CD, btw, if anyone would be so kind to share Edited by robca - 12 June 2019 at 22:01 |

Thanks for following up .
I have the Dimage Scan dual IV and original software . The driver discs are obviously different , but if the other disc is the same I can sort you out a copy . As it's just for cataloguing and minor processing , I think it was all the same one . P.M me you details and when I get chance to find them I will get it uploaded for you , most likely it will be sometime next week . |

First of all, thanks so much for offering. Then I have to admit I feel hopelessly stupid: After downloading the drivers from the Minolta website to install the drivers on the new PC, I realized that the driver download also include all the necessary scanning applications. I then re-read the 5400 II review, and realized that the second CD I remembered, was a Photoshop Elements, not the scanning software. When I downloaded the drivers, the file was only 5.4Mbyte, and I thought it was only the driver... in today's world where an HP printer comes with what they call a driver of 110Mbytes, I thought that 5.4Mbytes could not possibly be the full suite So, many thanks for offering, but I'm all set. And stupid ![]() |

Resurrected my Scan Multi II and it's been working fine on Windows 10.
Today my lamp burned out FL-100. Does anyone here know of a source for these? |

The FL-100 is currently being discussed on photo.net, if that's any use.

Did you see this https://www.photo.net/discuss/threads/minolta-scan-multi-lamp-repair-how-to.503843/? They point to https://www.lcd-chip.com/ as a possible source, and they have all sorts of CCFL lamps. They might also know of a direct replacement
Finding one that fits is not impossible usually. Finding one with the exact same color match, a bit harder... |

I saw that. I've ordered a couple 3mm x 123mm from USA source here: https://www.ccflwarehouse.com/30x12fuspcc1.html
Described as full spectrum. |
