I am going to try and do more quick "How-To's" this year. I am debating on making more comprehensive "How-To's", I just doubt folks would keep reading if it's too long.

Very pretty people (and pictures).
How do you scan the film to not get a single scratch/strand of hair? Professional service, or do you scan prints? Or just know how to get rid of such things very effectively in post? |

I used either a Frontier sP2500 (I own) or wet mount V750. I keep my negs pretty dust free prior to scanning. A pro-lab do the same.

Lovely photos and I was "waiting" for the nod to portra 160 for certain portrait conditions. I've shot a lot more Portra than Ektar but I have an intense fondness for the little Ektar I've shot. Maybe have to reconsider this summer's color film I choose!

Many thanks Marlon. To avoid this very useful post sinking into oblivion I've moved it to our "Knowledge Base" forum and linked to it in the KB Index.
I've left a "bread crumb" in place in the place where you originally posted it, so people can find it multiple ways. |

Cool, guys you can ask me anything about Portra 400, Portra 800, Portra 160, or Ektar 100. They are all great films with character.
If an admin can provide me with an email I could provide this post in text with images to be embedded rather than linked from my site. |

I agree with the points you make, Ektar 100 is excellent for portraiture and one of my favorite current films.
Several posts on the net suggest to shoot it at EI 64. This as never worked for me and keep using it at stock speed which gives me good results. Congratulations for keep using film and sharing your excellent work with us. I find the photos used on the article of great quality and a good example of what to expect from Ektar 100. |
