One more question for those of you who have undertaken this job : do you have any suggestion on how to remove the sealing white cement that covers the screws? the screws are rather deep into the chassis and the cement is not easily reachable so I would like to avoid removing it from the screws without being able to pull it out of the camera.

thank you

Hi Oronzo. For me, this white sealant was the biggest problem. I just used the hex wrench to scrape away as well as I could, then I pushed and wiggled until the wrench worked its way into the screws. The problem was that at first I wasn't entirely sure if when I turned the wrench, the screws also turned. I didn't know if the wrench was truly seating into the screw head. The was particularly the case on one of them. The other two pretty obviously turned from the start. Consequently, I'm not 100% sure that I turned them all in the exact same amount. In fact, I'm pretty sure I didn't. Once my center point came into focus, however, all my others did, too, with the exception of the top left focus point. It's ever so slightly off. This one was worse than the others before I began the repair, however. The screw that gave me problems was the one by itself. The pair probably did turn just about equally. Maybe those two are more important? I don't know. Maybe the repair manual can clear that up.

If I were to begin this again, I would spend more time trying to make sure the screws were clean and my wrench was making good contact. Even so, my results were very good.

Yes, if someone has a goot tip on how to clean the screws I would appreciate very much. I am fairly confident that once the cement is out of the way, the trimming will be rather easy and judging from the feedback of ALL who did this process I can't wait to do the job...
thanks

For me it was easy. I held the camera upright, and used a small needle. It would stick to the needle poit and could be removed easily. Do remember to hold your camera upright as you do not want to let it fall into your camera. Success!

I've got the camera showing the BBBB where the frame counter is, the camera is connected and the device driver is properly installed as in the instructions but when I tell the software to connect it tells me it can't find the DLL file.

I've made sure the Dynamic link library is in all the relevant places that the computer uses for other DLL files but it still won't have it.

OS is XP

Well, I've got the software here...

808kb unzipped.

2181Adj.dll 228kb
2186Adj.dll 304kb
dbg.txt 9kb
KMdsc_cs.exe 268kb

However, I don't know of the legalities of sharing a link to where it can be downloaded. ISTR bad things happening in the past, threats to site management from the owners of the software so the easiest thing to do is PM me or something for now

All,
After using the Adjustment Program I'd have to say that even if you obtain it you might not get it to work correctly because of the operating system requirements and the required USB driver it contains. Those with Vista and Windows 7 (or 8) will most likely need to run the program in something along the lines of a Windows XP virtual machine unless they have access to an older PC or laptop.

Getting the Adjustment Program and not being able to get it working correctly may be more frustrating for some than not getting the program at all.

Thats called progress, but I have downgraded,.....my laptop to xp pro and I can do everything anybody else can do, like posting on this forum so,....you don't need a old system, just de xp pro or home edition installed on perhaps dualboot?

PS on xp my laptop is faster on xp than on windows vista or 7,....

OK, I have the adjustment program, but I can't get it to work at all. The problem seems to be that the uusbd.dll and uusbd.inf files weren't included in what I got. Can anyone help me with these?
